Nine-year old Scorpius looked around the manor. All of his friends were running around, celebrating his birthday. Scorpius was happy, and he smiled widely. He looked for his parents and found his dad talking to Uncle Blaise.

Scorpius strolled over to the pair. "Hi, dad."

Draco smiled softly. "Hey, Scorpius. Are you having fun?"

Scorpius nodded eagerly. "So, when can we open presents?" he asked, giving his dad his best pleading look.

Uncle Blaise chuckled and patted Scorpius's head. "It might be your birthday, but there are more important things than presents," he admonished.

Scorpius shrugged, eyes glittering. "Dad promised me the best birthday present ever, and I can't wait to see it."

Uncle Blaise rolled his eyes. "No wonder you're so eager."

Draco smirked. "Well, if you ask nicely, I'm sure we can open presents soon."

"Please, dad? Please?"

"What do you think Blaise?"

Uncle Blaise shrugged. "Maybe you should give into him. It is his birthday after all."

Draco nodded. "Okay, in a few minutes we'll do presents.

Scorpius jumped excitedly. "Yes!" He ran away, deciding to tell his friends about the plan.

When everyone gathered to distribute presents, Scorpius said, "I want dad and mum's first."

Draco and Astoria shared a look, and then Astoria said, "We want you to open ours last."

Scorpius pouted, "Fine."

Everyone watched intently as Scorpius went through his presents. Scorpius loved reading, so many of his presents were books. He also got clothes and games. Finally, after what seemed like forever, he was down to his last present: the one from his parents.

"Well?" Scorpius asked, arms outstretched and eager hands ready to grab.

Draco chuckled and got a long box, wrapped in plain green paper, and carefully laid it on the table.

Scorpius stood up and quickly unwrapped and opened it.

All of the onlookers stared in silent awe.

Scorpius opened his mouth, and breathed, "Wow," as he reverently lifted up his present.

"Happy birthday, sweetie," Astoria said.

"My first broom," Scorpius said.

Draco nodded. "It's top of the line, and we know you'll put it to good use."

Scorpius grinned. "Can I try it out now?"

Draco gestured to the door leading outside.

Scorpius ran, his broom clutched tightly in his hand. His friends all followed speedily, and the adults came along, but in a sedater pace.

Scorpius readied himself and kicked up into the air. He zoomed around, getting the feel of the broom. He closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of flying with the wind rushing through his hair. The breeze on his face was refreshing, and Scorpius never wanted to touch the ground again.

He knew he couldn't play Quidditch his first year, but in his second year, he was definitely going to be on the team. He couldn't wait, and with this broom, no one stood a chance against him.

Scorpius just couldn't wait. He ignored the yells from his friends and flew around, focused on enjoying the best birthday present ever.

He never wanted to leave his broom.
