She sighed

She sighed.

'I wonder if he will notice when I'm gone. I wonder if he will understand why, or if he will even care.'

She slowly packed her bag. Enough was enough. She couldn't take it anymore. It was too much. It had happened too many times and her heart couldn't take it anymore. She was getting older, and she couldn't spend the rest of her life wasting away; waiting for him.

When it started out it had been great, because all he saw was her. When Gohan was born he was a father that would leave most at shame. But as time passed his adventurous spirit awoke. She didn't mind that he went to save the world, it was necessary, and at the beginning he did it for them. But that changed. Did he not think about her for a second when he chose to stay dead? Did he not think about Gohan, who idolised more than anyone ever knew? Did he not think about Goten, who would grow up without a father?

Goten. She loved him so much, but it hurt her to look at him, a constant reminder of what wasn't there. She trained him, and he grew with the fighting spirit of the father he never knew.

But still she welcomed him with open arms; she ignored the long absence because she loved him so much. Maybe, she thought desperately, maybe it would be the last. But her trust was shattered again and again.

Now she had had enough. Leaving with Uub was the last straw. She wouldn't wait for him anymore. It broke her heart but she finally understood that nothing would ever change, that he would never change.

She shed a tear. 'Did he even love her anymore? Because what hurt the most was that she still loved him.'

Goten came up beside her, taking their suitcases in one hand, his other arm wrapping around her waist. Together they flew away, never looking back at the empty house.

Years later Goku would come home smiling, only to find an empty house. All that remained of his family was a single wilted rose and a note that said goodbye.
