"Yes or no, Pettigrew. Yes or no." Voldemort's high, cold voice, had been reduced to only a hiss. He leaned forward, his wand just inches away from Peter's nose. "Yes, and you live. Say no, and…" Voldemort laughed softly, looking away from Peter and examining his long, pale, fingers. Leaning even closer than before, he whispered the last two words: "You'll die."
Peter, already trembling so hard that his teeth chattered, gave a terrified shriek, jumping off of his chair and landing with a dull thump on the floor. He scrambled backwards, attempting to crawl as far away from the cruel, pale, snake-faced man as possible. He bumped his head on a nearby coffee table in the process, giving a startled squeak as he did so. He began to pant, small, beady eyes darting around him furiously, sweat sliding down from his face.
Voldemort laughed softly, reveling in his victim's fear and discomfort. He rose and started once more towards Peter, black robes swishing. Voldemort stopped before the cowering man on the floor, who found himself staring down the tip of The Dark Lord's wand point once more. It stayed there, firmly fixed before Peter, who was fervently attempting to avoid looking at the wand as much as possible.
"Choose wisely, now." Voldemort said.
The wand point hovered there before Peter, and Peter, petrified with fear, could only focus on it, imagining the green light rushing from the wand and quickly towards him, before he could even register what was happening.
No. Peter didn't want to die, he couldn't. He had to survive. And, without thinking of the friends that loved him, and who he'd be betraying, he gave his response.
"Fine, fine, I-I-I'll do it!" He shrieked, determinedly avoiding Voldemort's gaze.
"Good choice, Pettigrew," Voldemort murmured, "Good choice."
