I received an email that had been forwarded to me. It contained a list of things a group of 4-8 year-olds said about what love means. I was inspired to write a story for each one:

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6

It was on a Monday you stopped me in the hallway and I gave you a bloody nose.

It was on a Friday we had that detention together.

It was the next Tuesday I got pulled from my friends by your pale hands into a cupboard.

It was on a Saturday I met you in the Room of Requirement for the first time.

It was on a Thursday when we said "I love you" the first time to each other.

It was on a Sunday we shagged for the first time.

It was on a Friday we met in the Room of Requirement for the last time.

It was on a Wednesday the war ended.

It was the next Thursday the parties ended.

It was on a Tuesday we moved in together.

It was on a Sunday we got married.

It was on a Monday the first child of our circle was born.

It was on a Saturday our first child was born.

It was on a Wednesday the first grandchild was born in our circle.

It was the following Sunday our first grandchild was born.

It was on a Monday you died.

It was the next day I did.
