He felt like he was only comfortable in his cabin, even in this camp full of demigods like him and the fact that all his half-siblings had a new found respect for him. 16 year old Charles Beckendorf was working on a game station for his new bed. Ever since becoming counselor of Cabin 9, he had decided to work on gadgets to make his bed more of a lounging area then a place to sleep.

When he was at home, his mother barely had time for him and he didn't blame her. Here in camp, sure people noticed him but it was an unspoken fact that Hephaestus children were looked down upon, not in terms of power, but in looks (which he thought was stupid) and in social skills(which he admitted was definitely lacking in many of them).

"Hey Beckendorf!" a voice startled him. He turned around to see one of his younger half-brothers, Jake, coming down the stairs. "Don't you have a meeting in the Big House in a few minutes?" the smaller boy asked. Beckendorf checked his stainless steel watch (which yes he had made himself ) "Crap" he mumbled, racing up the stairs. He washed his hands, grabbed a clean shirt from his drawers and made an attempt to drag his fingers through his dark messy hair, figuring any oil would just blend in with his hair anyway.

He was running to the Big House when he heard the melodic voice that he had been dreaming of for the past nights and now it was being directed to… him? "Hey Charlie". He turned around slowly to make sure it wasn't someone else she was addressing. "Uh,um… Hi Si-silena"

Besides Lacy, she was the only one who actually talked to him or looked at him without malice or disgust in the Aphrodite cabin. Silena's long, silky, black hair fell down her back like a waterfall, her blue eyes , as bright as the sky, and her smile, gods, her smile as gorgeous as the stars. Her lips were as luscious as strawberries and her cheeks naturally tinted pink. Her slim figure was dressed in the orange camp shirt tied above her belly button, black jeggings, and gray Nike rubber shoes. Her camp necklace was actually worn, unlike her half-siblings who only wore them during campfire.

"You wanna walk with us?" Silena asked motioning to herself, Luke, and some Athena kid he didn't know. He wasn't sure how goofy his smile looked at the moment but at least they didn't laugh.

As they approached the Big House, he waited for someone to shout "We got you!" and for a bunch of Hermes kids to come out and start laughing that he would actually think the most gorgeous girl in camp would actually invite him to walk with her. But it didn't happen. He even tried pinching himself but he just ended up with a red mark on his arm.

Maybe she had noticed him staring at her in the dining hall. Maybe she was just being nice. Maybe… it didn't matter and the Fates just decided that they would shove him into her life.

He admired everything about her and how she was sweet and friendly towards loved how she was so beautiful inside and out.

Best of all, she noticed him and maybe liked him. Of course, in a friend way because it was obvious she liked Luke a lot too. But maybe , just maybe , they would have a chance to be together
