I own nothing, obviously. This was inspired by an episode of Bojack Horseman, which I also don't own.

"Lin come on! We're gonna miss the ferry!" Tenzin waited patiently for his wife to come down so they could depart for their long awaited break. Just as he was about to yell again, he saw Lin hurrying down the stairs.

"Ok, I'm ready lets go" Tenzin grabbed their luggage and held the door for her. As they entered the sato mobile they hired, Tenzin stole a glance at his partner and couldn't help but marvel at her beauty. She had been his best friend since they were children and had been there for him as long as he could remember. His first crush, his first kiss, his first love. Tenzin was snapped out of his thoughts by the abrupt stop of the vehicle as they arrived at the ferry stop. He helped Lin down and picked up their stuff as she payed the driver. They didn't have to wait very long for the ferry to arrive so they didn't talk much until they settled on the deck of the boat.

"I'm so glad we're finally going on the trip we've been planning for months" Lin said as she rested her head on Tenzin's chest. "I know. I'm sorry we had to postpone it for a while due to my council duties" Tenzin put his arms around his love. "Well I bet it will be worth the wait" He could feel himself getting lost in her ashen green eyes. They had been together since they were teenagers and although they had been through a lot of rough patches, they were still deeply in love.

When they reached their destination, Tenzin and Lin made their way off the ferry hand in hand. At the hotel they waited patiently for their room key while they admired the luxuries that surrounded them. After changing into their swimwear, they decided to go to the beach to watch the sunset. As they watched the beautiful display of pink and orange tones spread across the sky, Tenzin held his wife close to him and kissed the top of her head. "What are you thinking about?" he asked her. Lin looked pensive and took a while to reply "I'm just thinking about how nice it would have been if you had chosen this life".

Tenzin woke up abruptly and wondered at the queer dream he just had. He felt Pema stir besides him, having sensed his unease. "Sweetie, what's wrong?" He could hear the concern on her voice mixed with sleepiness. They hadn't had much sleep since Jinora was born and they desperately needed any rest they could take. "Nothing, just go back to sleep". She laid down and soon he heard her soft snores but as much as Tenzin turned on his bed, he couldn't shake the feeling of regret and longing he had felt after waking up.

Yep. I tried.
