My dog just died today, they had to put her down, so I'm going to write a fanfic in remembrance.
Elvis lay on his side heaving. His raspy breaths came out one by one, counting down. Tears streamed down Sabrina's face, making her throat burn and turning her face splotchy, but she didn't care.
"You are such a good dog." She choked out making everybody cry all the more. Daphne clutched Veronica and dug into her as if it would all go away if she did.
Granny Relda sat quiet but lay down some of Elvis's favorite treats which he ate. They all knew that Granny Relda had scheduled and appointment for Elvis to be put down.
Puck came in and was silent. He seemed to understand the need to silence and that it wasn't time to joke around, but he just stayed silent. Some of Elvis's puppies tried to jump on him, but he didn't play with them back.
"It's time." Relda said. Regrets rushed into Sabrina's head. If only she had been more kind to the Great Dane. Did he know she loved him? It didn't matter, because as she said her last goodbyes, she knew he'd be gone in a matter of hours.
He walked happily to the door of the old jalopy before hopping in. Only Granny and her dad were going to the veterinarian. As they left she knew it'd be the last car ride.
Sabrina ran to her room in tears and slammed the door before sliding down against it, crying. "Don't die, don't die, I don't want you to die. I love you forever."
He didn't even know he would die today. The thing is, he was looking forward to a car ride, but it was the last car ride he'd ever have and he died because of it taking him to the vet.
It's so awful. She just wished she knew if he wanted to go. If he wanted to die. Sabrina also wanted to know if he loved her.
If he thought she loved him and she hoped that it wouldn't hurt him or that he thought of his lost pups as he drifted off. Sabrina's dad said he held her as he died. I wish he wouldn't die.
I wish his body hadn't betrayed him. He's dead though. He didn't know he would die today. He thought he'd live. He didn't even know. But perhaps that is better. Sabrina thought.
But it was too late. Elvis was gone.
