Just a short one-shot I came up with while going over the ending with Snape in my head…enjoy and please review! I do not own Snape, Harry, or the first sentence of this story…sadly. Lol.

The Eyes

"Look…At…Me…" he whispered.

Harry looked at him. Harry's eyes were exactly like Lily's Dumbledore had been right. Why had he never looked himself? Thousands of thoughts and memories came flooding back into Snape's mind, some good, some bad, but all about Lily. All the times she stood up for him, all the times she smiled and laughed with him, everything they had done together. They were all such treasured memories, why did he have to go with his other friends? Why did he call her a mudblood, after all, it only ruined their friendship and any chances of anything more. If he had been more careful, if he had chosen better friends, Lily might've chosen him, and not the Potter boy.

He wished that he had been kinder, though, to her son. After all, he was, in fact, Lily's son, and even if he acted more like his father, he still had Lily's eyes. Why had he been so blind before? Harry was like his mother more then Snape had seen. Maybe he had just been trying to ignore the facts, so that he could say that Harry was like his father, whom he still was jealous of. Harry was smart like his mother, he was loyal to his friends…and of course, he had her eyes.

But all he could do, was look into Harry's green eyes, and let fate take hold of him. He didn't think again, after that.
