A furious splash of red against a canvas of creamy-peach-those were the colours reflected on Victor's face right now. He squirmed and squealed as his thoughts ran back to his date with Yuuri a few hours ago, his mind whizzing with images of the couple holding hands and strolling joyfully through the meadow. Victor had never been on a ramble with anyone before-and he certainly didn't expect to enjoy it, but he had: a lot.
Doing anything with Yuuri was amazing, however, walking outdoors together seemed to ignite a new spark in both of them. The miracle of spring sunshine mixed with the crisp, pollen-heavy breezes of new life had stirred warm memories within them, and their actions reflected on it. Yuuri was a lot more open and his smiles were genuine; Victor was more serious and also opened up more. Victor grinned childishly as he drifted off into a blissful dream of the date.
The afternoon was buzzing with fervent sounds of nature; bees hovering around huge clusters of spectrum-sprayed flowers; large mulititudes of birds calling for their mates; the soft gurgling of a nearby brook. Every detail was what you might call 'perfect'. The best thing of all, though, was Yuuri. His stride was worry-free and joyous as they gallavanted around the dew-mottled grass, the rotted autumn twigs snapping and crackling underfoot. Victor watched him as he chattered on and on about childhood visits to an abandoned field; about how now he no longer walked alone. It felt great to hear him say that.
This, the Russian declared, was what heaven felt like. He'd discovered many new things about himself and his soulmate-for instance, his unabashed love for the springtime (as long as the weather conditions permitted it) and cute little dimples on Yuuri's face. Without thinking, he reached out and gently stroked them, which made Yuuri pause to lean into his hands and chuckle whilst staring straight into Victor's eyes.
He wished time would freeze then and there. The glowing warmth of those rosy cheeks and sparkling eyes; Yuuri was winning his heart over again and again without even realising it. When Victor smiled at him, he cheerily replied "What?" with a delighted chortle, then it was too much. Victor pulled the slightly startled Yuuri into a soft kiss, tasting the salty tang of their lunch. Saucily licking his lips and narrowing his eyes, Yuuri slicked his hair back and leant in for a sultry kiss, his tongue prodding fiercely into the other man's mouth.
After a short while of exchanging a mixture of kisses, the two resumed walking, though this time hand-in-hand as the daylight began to fade. They swapped glances shyly every so often, sometimes stopping to whisper sweet nothings into each others' ears and pecking cheeks. In the surroundings, birds chanted evening melodies and tucked their little ones into the nest, whilst the steady humming of insects began. Victor loved all these little details, and knew he would cherish this day forever.
Victor slammed a fist into his alarm, most likely breaking it. His dreams had been so pleasant, he'd overslept (again)! Hopefully, Yuuri wouldn't be mad at him for forgetting to take Makkachin to the vet again... but he'd worry about that later. When he heard the front door slamming, Victor conked out straight away, oblivious even to the shouts of his beloved. As another golden day passed by with Yuuri yelling complaints at him, all the man could visualise right now (with a goofy grin on his face) was that walk-again, and again, and again and again.
