Yeah man!! Fanfic number 50 is finally up! And it's really appropriate too, cos tomorrow (1st July, 2008) is officially my first anniversary of being on FF!

The honour of fanfic number 50, as well as first-anniversary-celebration fanfic, goes to the MapleStory category!

You don't have to understand this fanfic. I don't mind, because it is hard to understand.

Inspiration: I have read a lot of fanfics about human darkness and corruption (eg war) destroying, or coming close to destroying, the world. I admit to writing a few of those as well. This is a poem about such a situation. Enjoy, and remember to review!

Can You Hear…

- apocalypse -

-

Can you hear the darkness closing in?

The thundering crash of the waves that cry for light?

Can you hear the sunset, the fall of night

Upon the land, the treasure of the generations?

-

Can you hear it, the arrival of eternal winter,

The howl of the shadowed winds that breach

The borders between humanity and Hell?

Can you hear it, as it looms closer?
-

That sound, that desolate song of beauty's twilight

Slowly, as our lives fade on in innocence,

Closes in on our fate, without word, without warning

As our existence is softly, softly cast into evil's equinox

-

Tell me, can you hear the sunrise's cries for redemption?

Would you give it up for meaningless time spent?

Tell me,

As you count the petals off a daisy,

As you watch the shadows shift over the baked earth,

As you dream of the future veiled by the next dawn,

As you plan your next journey,

Watch the clock tick the seconds away,

-

Do you hear the whispering requiem of a world about to die?

-

Every moment you wait, every moment

You hesitate to fight for a strand of your dreams,

The world sinks deeper into its vanishing destiny.
