Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel or anything else affiliated with either show.

A/N: This is my first Buffy fan fic. It was just a little idea that came to my mind and refused to leave. Please read and leave a review saying what you thought. Thanks.

Summary: Set after season seven. Buffy's living her new life in Rome when she wakes up one morning to find a baby boy outside her door. Short Oneshot.

The Problem with Prophecies

Buffy Summers sat in her apartment in Rome, deep in thought. Once again, so didn't know what to do. It was true that she said she was done with Angel. He was the head of an evil law firm and regardless to the fact that he claimed to be changing it from the inside out, she couldn't trust him anymore. Yet, even as she thought this, she couldn't help, but wonder how he was.

Something big was happening in Los Angelus, of that she was sure. She could feel it. Any day now, hell would break loose, but she wasn't worried. Angel and his team could handle it. They always did. How many time had she heard that they had saved the world. Besides, she heard that he had some god on his side now and even another vampire to add to his time. With that help, there was no way he could lose, Buffy reasoned with herself before leaving the apartment to go meet Dawn at her school.

Several days passed, but the strange feelings never left Buffy. Maybe she had been wrong. Maybe this fight was too big for Angel and his team. Could something have gone wrong? Had Angel finally been defeated? Buffy didn't know, but she vowed to find out. Grabbing her coat, she scribbled a note to Dawn, determined to make it to L.A. before nightfall. It seemed that fate had other plans for her, however because she never made it out of her apartment building, much less the country.

As Buffy opened the door to leave, she was surprised to hear a soft cry from below and even more surprised to see a baby boy right in front of her apartment door. Quickly squatting down, she picked up the baby and cradled him in her arms. Pulling back the blanket that the child wrapped up in, she discovered that the baby had brown hair and brown eyes. Even more surprising was the cross mark on her crest. She had seen it before on someone in Sunnydale long ago.

Gasping, she returned to her apartment and set the baby on her couch, watching as a small piece of paper fell from the blanket. Unfolding it she read the contents slowly:

The champion of the light has fulfilled his destiny. The vampire with a soul has stopped an apocalypse and for that he has been granted life. You and your friends are the best candidates for raising this new child. You are now in charge of his life.

PTB

Shaking her head, Buffy smiled and picked up the baby once again. That was the problem with prophecies. There were always loop holes.

A/n: That's it. I know it's short, but I liked how it turned out. Please review and let me know what you thought. Please be kind. Thanks for reading.
