Title: Candle
Rating: K+
Pairing: AkuRoku -- Axel/Roxas
Warnings: Hints of yaoi, I suppose? Character Death -- Axel's. IT'S CANON, EVEN IF YOU WANT TO DENY IT.
Word Count: 372
A/N: I WANTED TO GET SOMETHING WRITTEN. Because everything else is kind of dying right now, and I don't feel like writing lemons until I get a new notebook. XD; So... have a death scene? . _ . It's canon, I SWEAR. It's a little ten minute thing; it's fast, it's crap, let's leave it at that. Also, the "You're early, ect," thing is from Days.
Try and enjoy?
Also, reviews are love!
----------------------------
Axel had always been too confident for his own good, and everyone knew it -- except him. Roxas had told him frequently that he was too full of himself, but Axel always just grinned and brushed off the comment.
But now, as the fiery heat of his own flame surrounded him, he couldn't help but think that maybe Roxas was right.
But now that didn't matter.
He could see Sora out of the corner of his eye, watching with shock as the explosion of flame filled Betwix and Between, wiping out Dusk and Nobody alike. Axel was actually smiling as he fell back to the ground, stumbling a few steps. Grinning weakly at Sora, he managed to hold himself up for a few moments longer, refusing to let himself fall, clinging to that last piece of stubbornness. The Darkness was already licking at him, sliding over his skin. It tasted bitter, and the Nothingness that clung to him was frightening, even to his Heartless form.
He felt Sora rush forward, grabbing onto him in an attempt to keep him from falling, but the smaller boy wasn't strong enough to keep Axel from weighing down on him. He helped him to the ground instead, laying him carefully across the strange floor.
He was vaguely aware of Sora talking, of himself exchanging words with him... He was even smiling still, that foxy grin glued to his lips, though it was thinner, strained.
But even as the Darkness pulled him deeper, he saw Roxas. The blonde was looking down at him with those sad, cerulean eyes, reaching out to him...
"Found you," Axel said hoarsely, his own hand extending up to Roxas. "You're early."
"No, you're just late," Roxas sighed, unable to keep from smiling. "But it's okay," he promised. "We'll meet again in the next life, just like you said."
Axel managed a hoarse bark of a laugh. "Just because you have a next life..."
He felt Roxas' hand against his cheek, and with his last strength, he leaned into the touch. This was enough.
With a contented, final sigh, Axel closed emerald eyes, as the Darkness swallowed him up, and then he was gone.
Just as if a candle had been snuffed out.
