James hurried back after the raid, glad to have the last of the Death Eaters captured. It felt good to have Voldemort down once and for all.

Voldemort.

The monster who took his son.

James shook his head. They found him. They found Harrison and all the other children who went missing during Voldemort's peak scattered across the world. Plans to make them Junior Death Eaters fell through and instead the mostly one and two-year-olds found themselves in various orphanages.

James's heart clenched, and he knew if Remus found out he was feeling sorry for himself he would have a fit. Roles had changed since their Hogwarts years, and James knew Remus would do anything to keep James's mind off Harry. Sirius, too.

But the father didn't want that. He just wanted Harry to forgive him.

"Prongsie!" Sirius said. "There's a kid in your office."

James rose an eyebrow and Sirius matched his pace through the Department walkways.

"Don't give me that look, James." He said.

James opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off by Sirius.

"I know, I know. Look- don't even get me started. 'Waah, waah, I get to meet my kid tomorrow for the first time in fourteen years. He's fifteen! And I didn't see him grow up!' Mate, he's my godson too. I just think you should do your job while you still have it." He gestured for James to lean in and whispered. "Sampson's team got laid off."

They turned a corner. "I know that's not supposed to make me feel better." James said, and Sirius sighed.

"James, if that kid doesn't like you then there's something wrong with him."

"Sirius!"

The aforementioned man laughed. "Listen, you haven't met him yet, and you won't, at least not until tomorrow. Stop worrying. You know," Sirius waggled his eyebrows. "You used to be fun."

James scowled good-naturally as Sirius walked into the coffee room. "And don't forget!"he called. "Kid. In. Office."

James said goodbye to his long time friend and hurried to his office. Why a kid wanted to talk to him, he had no idea. He fumbled with the knob and his briefcase, before opening the door.

He dropped his briefcase, papers flying in all directions.

"Sir?" A kid with tossled black hair and Avada Kedavra green eyes said. "Did you miss me?"
