Laurita Baudler walked along the boardwalk slowly. She was tired, well not just tired but exhausted. Work was hectic and filled with all kinds of customers. Laurita sold unusual clothes, diamonds and accessories that she would never be able to afford in years. She was tired of the job, of her snotty boss and even more the customers who never tipped. But it was the only one she could find and if she wanted to continue living at her home with her parents she would have to continue working there.
At the age of eighteen Laurita has had problems with holding a job. Her quick, witted tongue had gotten her in more than enough troubles throughout high school; and now that she had graduated it still had yet to change. College was nice seeing as the teachers were more laid back and challenged her but they still did not appreciate it when she crossed the line. Sighing once more, Laurita opened her door and was not surprised to see that it was dark and no one was home. "Lucky jerks get to go to bed early."
Laurita dropped her car keys in the bowl and shrugged her jacket off before going up the stairs that led to all the bedrooms. Once she was in the privacy of her room she stripped off her clothing and placed an oversize shirt on that ended right below her knees. She was just going to start brushing her hair when a commotion was heard outside. It sounded like thunder rolling closer and closer to her house and for a moment Laurita thought she could feel the house tremble. An urge to rush under the safety of her bed hit her but that seemed a bit childish so she just stood where she was waiting for what would happen next.
As quickly as it had started it ended. Laurita shrugged it off as just something that was harmless and random and decided to continue with her. Again she was interrupted, but this time it was by the sound of her mother's scream. Laurita gasped and dropped her brush, throwing her door open, and rushing down the stairs as fast as she could. What she saw caused her blood to run cold.
A group of boys were huddled around a body that she could only guess was her mother. Two other bodies were collapsed on the living room floor and blood could be seen surrounding all three. Laurita opened her mouth then shut it again like a drowning fish. She wanted to scream, wanted to call the police, wanted to beat all three boys to a pulp. But all she could do was stand their like a moron and watch as the boys advanced on her. She was only able to let out a tiny cry before her world went dark.
