Sophia and Carl always loved their birthdays. Even in times like this it was the one thing that kept their little minds occupied. Kept them from thinking about the madness and the death around them. Soon ti was going to be Sophia's birthday. It was strange because even though it wasen't his birthday Carl could not wait. Birthdays are ment to be special, and he wanted to see her smile,
to see her happy, to see someone he has as a friend to, for once not be scared or terrified or anything like that.
He just wanted to forget about the apocalypse, and to see someone else forget about it too.
It was not long till Sophia's birthday and they would not stay still.
It was all the excitment, and they knew it was probably wasen't the safest thing but, it was nice.
"This will be my best birthday ever" she said to Carl when they were high on sugar. He giggled as if this was the world it used to be. Kids laughing and playing, it was a great thing to see in the world they have to live in now.
And then, one of the worst thing of all happened.
Sophia went missing.
It was hard of course but he thought she was fine.
He had to believe she was fine because if she wasen't his whole world would crash to the ground.
She was his best friend in the world.
And then, the most horrible thing happened.
Sophia came out of that barn.
That was it, she was gone.
Not the innocent little girl she used to be.
No.
This monster she had turned into.
When she came out of the barn Carol was on the ground in tears. Carl too was crying. I mean it was Sophia. A few days ago she was just this little girl. Happy and content and excited over her birthday.
Oh no.
Suddenly it hits Carl. Today is Sophia's birthday.
It can't.
As soon as Rick had put a bullet in her head he said something his mother didn't expect after she kept saying " It's okay, it's okay"
"Mom?" he said with tears running down his face.
"Yeah?" she said trying to hold back the flood of tears that she knew were coming.
"It-it's her birthday" he looking at his mother's reaction.
Soon, she let the tears go, so does her son.
Sophia was wrong.
Her birthday was not going to be the best.
It was going to be her worst.
Later, they had her funeral and Carl asked Daryl for a cherokee rose.
He was with his mother when he came to see Sophia.
"Happy birthday Sophia, you can finally rest" he said placing the flower on her grave.
FIN.
