Disclaimer: As usual, Jareth isn't mine. He belongs to Henson Productions. I don't make any money off of it, that's for sure. After Storyteller, I thought Jareth might need to have his say as well. It's only fair, you understand… although I don't exactly let him talk for long….
This one is for Reily. Just because.
Jareth's Rebuttal

You think you know it all, don't you?
You think you know where I come from, who I am, what makes me tick, and how to defeat me.
I could almost pity you if you didn't irritate me so.
You think I'm a hopeless romantic. Poor fool. There isn't a man on this great earth who is less romantic than I.
You think I was in love with a fourteen-year-old child.
Just how sick are you?
And then, you say I'm the villain. Where did you get that idea? I did everything for her. I was everything she wanted. I am everything you want.
I was dangerous, exciting, powerful. Every young woman's dream.
And when her dream required it, I was dashing, handsome… the perfect gentleman.
I was everything to her, and look at how she repaid me.
Look how you portray me, for that matter. I am either senseless, careless, love struck or helpless. I am always flawed in such an inconceivable manner. In every story you weave, you make me pitiable. Do you have any notion of how powerful I actually am?
I am your dream… however do you think I can show them to you?
I am your desire… whether you want it or not.
I am you. I am sensuality personified. I am power.
I am fear.
Know me for who I am.
Write, knowing I hold the reins.
Know I am the Story.
Fear me, love me, do as I say.
Where's the part where I'll be your slave, you ask?
It's not there. It's not supposed to be there. Someone just wrote that in. Without my permission, I might add. As if I would be anyone's slave.
Oh, what fools these mortals be.
Go on now, be gone with you. I grow tired of your presence. My goblins will show you to the door.
Just remember what I told you.
And don't forget to write.
