SummaryHermione decides embarrassment is the perfect payback. Draco learns that revenge does not have to be extreme to be effective. This means war. Don't hate the player hate the game.
Hermione as always was intently working on her colour-change potion that she never heard the laughs or saw the looks and points that were coming from the Slytherin side of the room.
Draco sat up a little taller to get a better view. He raised his wand and whispered so that only those around him could hear the words.
Hermione felt something on her head. She could hear laughter and shrieks from all over the room. As she raised her, hand to see what was there Draco called out.
"I always knew you kept something in the nest you call hair." Then he fell in a fit of laughter.
Hermione brushed across her hair to feel something fluffy sitting in it. She shrieked as she pushed the bird off her head.
"5 points off Gryffindor for disrupting the class." Snape snickered.
Hermione run out of class, telling herself she would not cry.
The next day all of Slytherin had heard of the prank and they took it in turns to tease, mock and ridicule Hermione, however she acted as if it never happened. She had told herself that it was no use to dwell on the past.
"What's done is done" is what she told Ron and Harry that night when they came to comfort her.
Draco came over, and although she seemed calm, she seethed inside.
"So Weasley, you've started a business." Draco started. "Renting out your girlfriends hair to birds." Ron stood up ready to punch the living daylights out of the blonde Slytherin, but Hermione beat him to it. As her hand made contact with the side of his head, a loud smack echoed throughout the hall.
"How dare you. You filthy little mudblood."
Instead of being even more furious, Hermione just looked at him one last time and walked out of the hall. Everyone was watching.
A week had pasted and Draco returned to his usual taunting and Hermione had not spoken a word of what she had done. Nor did she get in trouble, as all the members of the staff were in awe of the HeadGirl and her actions; no one thought she was capable of hitting Draco.
Harry and Ron thought that maybe the bird had messed with her head as when Draco came over for his morning mock fest, Hermione actually smiled at him.
Hermione went to the library after breakfast that day and surrounded herself in books that were in no way related to any of her current homework.
At lunch, she sat down and ate as if nothing was different and the past was forgotten. Then again, no one knew what she was planing.
Hermione knew that Draco had pride in his reputation as a tough guy. She knew that he would suffer the most by embarrassment in front of the entire school if that was proved wrong. What would the best way to do it without being caught and that would be most effect.
Sometimes the smallest things can cause the most suffering.
Dinner came and all was normal until from over from the Slytherin table a scream was heard throughout the hall.
"Ahh somebody get it off of me" Everyone looked over to see Draco jumping from his seat and running out of the great hall screaming and being chased by a bread roll, which was hitting him repeatedly over the head.
Hermione sat back and smiled to herself. So much for Draco being the tough little boy that he clamed to be.
