She Came to Me

Rated: PG
Characters: Landon/Jamie
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Landon and Jamie (I WISH!) and they belong to WB and Nicholas Sparks. I do own the written concept of the story and it's MINE so back off buddy *grins*.
Someday I'll see her again... I just don't know if I can wait that long... Landon thought as he laid his head down. It was four years after his beloved Jamie's passing, and he was visiting the Reverend. Although a medical student, and busy with other aspects of the life, he would never remarry or forget Jamie. He may have just known her for a short amount of time, but she made an impression on him to last him the rest of his life.
Sleep, Landon, sleep! Goddamn it. Sorry, Father forgive me, Landon thought, looking pointedly up towards the sky. As Landon laid there, trying uselessly to fall asleep, he remembered something he was thinking at his love's funeral...
Dear God, I know I have not prayed religiously or been unsinful in my ways, and I'm not very good at this, but hey, I'm trying. Please watch over my Jamie. I miss her in so many ways, but I believe with my soul that she is in a better place. With You. I mean, she always had a wonderful heart and she believed with the faith of a saint. I just wish I could see her once again... just once more...
Suddenly, Landon was jolted out of his reverie.
"Landon... Landon... are you there? If you hear me, look," a gentle, soft voice spoke from somewhere in the room he was staying. He glanced around, slightly shocked, but soon recognizing the voice. "Jamie? Baby, is that you?" Landon annunciated, clearly in shock but happily surprised. "This isn't happening..."
"Yes Landon it is... I was reaching the Gates of Heaven when Father told me that first time Landon remembered his first "real" prayer, He would grant you the gift of a message. You will only see me once, but every so often, you will find something amazingly wonderful and inexplainable. I hope you realize this, but I miss you with the power of my every being," Jamie told him.
Landon, at this point, was quite surprised but amazed at the wonders of God.
Thank you, God, for this wonderful gift, he thought. He looked towards Jamie. She had a milky glow to her, one of an angel, illuminated with an aura only she could possess.
"Landon, I come to you to tell you I love you. A simple message, but an effective and loving one. I miss you and I wish I could be with you. But go on living your life. You mustn't mourn-"
"Jamie, I will always miss you and love you, and with your passing came mourning. I'm still recovering."
"Yes Landon, I suppose. But I want you to be happy. For you to smile. Whenever you smile, it lightens my soul. Always remember that I am looking down on you, watching you, your protector. I must go now... God is beckoning to me to go with him..." Jamie voice began to fade slightly.
"Jamie! Don't go! Jamie..." Landon cried out softly.
"Landon, just remember you never know what each day will bring. Live each day like it's your last, and learn as if you'll live forever. I love you and just remember... I'll be waiting for you."
Landon laid back after Jamie spoke these words. The clear presence of Jamie was beginning to fade as she began to wave good-bye. Tears began to build after there Jamie left, almost like she had never been there. But in his heart and thru his eyes, he realized that he had just received the greatest gift of all. Not a gift of a message. A gift of love.
Don't worry, Jamie. Good-bye is only temporary, and I'm waiting for you too... Landon thought, slowly tiring and quickly falling asleep.
Later the next day, thru fatal happenings, Landon died.

Sequel? Yes? No? Lemme know.
