Grell held the body of William T. Spears, crying over it. "No... Will... Please don't leave me... Please. I love you Will. Please open your eyes," he cried softly, holding the body of his now dead lover. The person that had kept him sane since right past school getting out. Who was the reason he made sure to look his best every morning. And why he tried to be a good person. The reason why he lived.
The red head shook as he cried. "My Will... Please come back," he whispered softly, gripping William softly and stroking his hair.
He felt someone's hand on his shoulder, trying to pull him away from the body and the demon that was now fighting someone else. He jerked his shoulder away. This was something he had to handle. He couldn't just let William go.
He let his body collapse over the raven's. "You can't leave me on my own... I can't do it... Please. Please," he whispered as his make up ran and he curled close to the body. He sobbed into William's chest, unable to control himself. "I love you... You can't leave me. Not alone. I can't do it. Not without you... Please. Please Will."
Grell didn't know how to be alone like that. Getting through the nights, he could do that. Maybe even a day or two. But he couldn't get through eternity. Not on his own. Not without his ravenette at his side telling him to be reasonable or act like a man then kiss him with the passion that matched his coldness in private.
Those few kisses that were so few and far between. The wait was worth it every single time. Now, he'd never get another kiss. Another, 'What is it, Sutcliff?' The person he loved was gone. Forever. He might as well be too.
After a moment, he stood up and pushed the person, Ronald Knox, who was fighting the demon away. He would do this. "Come and get me," he growled, wiping at his tears one last time. He wanted to die. But he wanted to kill the thing that had killed his love first.
His eyes flashed dangerously, the last shreds of his sanity disappearing as he ran forward with his
death scythe in hand.
He fought with the recklessness of someone with nothing to lose and managed to beat the demon, but not without gaining a fatal wound himself. He managed to make it to William's body before leaning down and kissing his lips softly. "I'm coming Will... My sweet William. I hope you wait for me wherever you are right now," he whispered softly to the dead body as he rested his head on his chest.
"I love you, William. I'm coming," he whispered softly, as he closed his eyes and let himself imagine the last kiss they had shared.
He could feel William's lips on his again and imagined the softness and warmth the cold shinigami held when he chose to show it. He didn't feel the cold that was slowly coming over his body as he remembered the kiss.
All that was left was the texture of his hair. The soft material his coat was made of. The glasses that he had taken before the kiss so they wouldn't hit each other with them.
And then the dark black that was William's hair. Slowly, that was all he saw as he slowly slipped into death, the words dying on his lips.
"I love you, my dear sweet William... I'm coming..."
Read, Review, whatever. I want to hear what you think. (I almost cried writing this.)
