Summary: The Autobots, too, have those who are forgotten amongst their ranks...
Author's Note: I had not originally intended to write a sequel to "The Unsung", but a friend of mine suggested I work on lengthening this type of writing, so I came up with the other side's view. I don't own anything used in this story, not even the Heinlein quote or the Seeker's name. For the disclaiming of Skystriker, read "The Unsung."
"The Forgotten"
By J.T. Magnus, "Turbo"
You can call me Roadbuster.
You don't know of me? Few do.
They know of Prime and his Elite, who left Cybertron for energy. They know of Maximus and his 'fearless warriors.' They know of Ginrai and his Masterforce and Star Sabre and Victory Leo and their team. They even know of Magnus and his Omnibots...
But they don't know of us.
Those of us who aren't famous, who stayed behind, who spend our time active repelling Decepticon attacks and pressing forward the Autobot army.
I looked into Earth's history once. There was a book by a man named Robert A. Heinlein called 'Starship Troopers.' Inside I found the perfect description of me and my frontline brethren, "We are the boys who go to a particular place, at H-hour, occupy a designated terrain, stand on it, dig the enemy out of their holes, force them then and there to surrender or die. We're the bloody infantry, the doughboy, the duckfoot, the foot soldier who goes where the enemy is and takes him on in person." That's us.
Prime dies and gets resurrected and everyone, human, Nebulon, Autobot, Decepticon, everyone knows of him.
Outside of our squad, does anyone know of Whirl, who bought it from an X-Ray blast during the Battle of the Launch? To the command staff, he's one of many casualties from that day. To us, his former squadmates, he was a friend.
We're the backbone of the Autobots, but we're forgotten.
Skydasher, Drilldasher, and Tankdasher...
Skram and Rapido...
Whirl...
And just now, off to my left, Artfire takes a hit, and as Stepper runs to help, they both buy it.
How many more friends will I outlast like they're living shields for me?
How many more soldiers will be forgotten in this neverending war?
I draw a bead on a nearby Decepticon and fire.
Then I walk to where he's fallen and I give a fellow footsoldier the only gift I can:
I ask him his name.
After all, we're all the unsung heroes, the forgotten soldiers of this war.
The Powerdashers, Skram, Rapido, Whirl, Artfire and Stepper, and even a Decepticon Seeker named Skystriker...
