Vincent knew from watching them, the boy was in love with the girl next door. Even as fractured and broken Cloud was after the battle, he still clung to life for the girl. He understood in many ways. Which led his thoughts to the reason he stood in this church filled with thousands of flowers and a weapon called the Buster Sword. He was here to honor the man and woman who'd carried the weight of the world on their shoulders. Dropping to one knee, Vincent placed his gold claw upon the edge of the lifestream pool.
"I did not know you," Vincent began. "Zack Fair."
He cocked his head slightly, listening to the water slap gently against the broken boards. Letting out a breath, he continued. "I can only wander what kind of man would carry the weight of the world on his shoulders and still press on. You surrendered your life to save Cloud. I have learned much from him because of you. Cloud is a hero but I think that is because you were there to guide him. Even in death, your presence remains with him."
A sudden cacphony of sound disturbed the morose man from his thoughts. Immediately, his hand shot down to his cellphone as a twitch developed in his brow. Flipping the phone open, he scanned the name on the id caller and let out a groan. Pressing the answer button, Vincent brought the phone to his ear.
"Yes, Yuffie?" he asked.
"Yo, Vince-sters, whatcha doin? I found this great treasure and I could use some help getting it out of here... Waaaah! Dragon. Hurry up!" Yuffie answered before ending the call.
With a grunt, Vincent came to his feet. "Good bye, Zack Fair. Look after Aerith for us all."
Turning on his feet, the former Turk missed the moment when two lingering ghosts from past stood together. Zack's lips were twitching in amusement at the irony of the moment. "We're more alike then you'd think, Mr. Valentine." he answered. "Take care of Cloud."
"Always so serious. I think it's the other way around. Cloud has been taking care of him." Aerith added, smiling at Zack in wonderment. "I hope Yuffie will be okay."
Zack snorted, remembering all the trouble the little ninja had given him over the course of his life. "She's Yuffie. Trust me, she'll be okay. Did I ever tell you about the time she stole my Bahamut-fury?"
