Hello everyone! After reading and improving the last chapter I did for this story, Chapter 28, I realized that my first handful of chapters needed major editing and proofreading since they were written long before I posted them here, and long before I wrote chapter 8. I actually abanoned this story for a while before someone reviewed it (on another website) because I completely forgot about it, and so when they reviewed it, I was reminded of it. I decided to write more chapters for it and so that's why Chapter 8 is much better then the first seven.I apologize for not improving them sooner but I believe my writing has improved tremendously from the first time I wrote the first 7 chapters, and I'm ready to use what I've learned to improve what was written a long time ago, so here are the improved chapters!
I'm sorry if you had to deal with the early chapters of this story, they truly weren't that great, but I will say this. Even though my writing skills weren't the best then, they are a reference guide to show me how much I've improved over the course of only a year, and so I really do love them. I'm so proud of the author I have become, and nothing will ever change that.
Of course I'm writing this halfway through the story, but I promise that I won't spoil anything, I'll only leave a good subtle hint of what might come in the future. Prepare yourself:
"Today, we celebrate the demise of my mortal enemy. He was known as a good man who did much for his kingdom, but he was foolish enough to stand in the way of justice. And that is why he had to go, no man should ever wish upon the death of millions just to prove that he was a a complete madman."
~Chapter 42 reference
So without further ado, I present the 1st official chapter of this here fanfiction~ Legend of Zelda: True Love:
~May true love always be by your side, through thick and thin. For real love is the only true emotion that'll always conquer and win~
For Buckwheat and Luke~
Prologue:
Link sat in the grass in the middle of Hyrule Field and enjoyed the beautiful scenery around him. Sure Hyrule Field used to be riddled with monsters, but Link had destroyed them all in his quest to defeat Zant and aid Midna in retrieving the broken pieces of the Mirror of Twilight. Now that she was back at the Twilight Realm, Link's life quickly became dull and void of a purpose.
He sighed inwardly and glanced around the field once more, silently praying to the Goddesses that something interesting would happen soon. When Hyrule was thankfully saved from Ganondorf's evil reign, life soon became quite dull and boring. There was nothing to do, no purpose to fight for. Link hated to admit it, but sometimes he wished that Ganondorf would return once again, just to stir up some trouble and keep his life entertaining.
And then there was Zelda. Of course Link and Zelda had been friends since they were young children, but ever since Midna left, he hadn't spoken to Zelda since that day. He secretly wished that she would visit him more often, but he knew that her duties as a princess and ruler of Hyrule kept her from venturing too far and exploring the kingdom on her own.
Still, would it kill the princess to get a fresh breath of air? When they were much younger, Zelda was much more of a daredevil. She'd always adventure with him everywhere, and she never took the advice of her mother. But ever since Ganondorf threatened her once again, her mother tricked her into thinking that she knew what was best for her daughter.
Queen Christina was an extremely intelligent queen, but she made the mistake of banning her daughter to never be able to see Link again, for Zelda was actually safer with him around. He was her hero and she was his princess, they would always be together forever no matter the circumstance. All of the story books that he had read in his childhood mentioned it, so why couldn't it come true?
As he pondered on the subject more, he began to grow frustrated with himself. Was it normal to dwell on the thought of a girl for this long? He had never considered himself to be the romantic kind, but Zelda brought out something extraordinarily good in him that was only present when she was around. He felt like she was the only one who brought out the best in him,and it was in his best interest to protect and love her for all of eternity.
Of course he knew that she viewed him in the highest regard as well. She didn't show much emotion after Zant forced her to surrender, but before that he remembered her to be a happy and optimistic person. After Zant and Ganondorf were both destroyed, he remembered the day she finally smiled at him for the first time in forever, because it was a day that he would never forget:
"Liinnkk! Eh, Liinnnk? Do you mind helping me with the goats? They haven't been listening to me lately!"
Link stirred in bed, but took no notice of Fado's voice as he gently fell back into a peaceful slumber. When Fado heard no response, he climbed up the ladder that lead into Link's home and loudly banged on the door, jolting him awake and scaring the crap out of him.
Link loudly groaned and threw a pillow out of the window and down to where Fado stood. When the pillow landed on Fado's head, he yelped and fell over the small ledge to the hard ground below.
Hearing a loud thump, Link cracked one eyeball open and sat up to peek out of his window. When he saw Fado's body laying in the dirt, he bolted out of bed and jumped down the ladder. Swinging open the door to his house, he bolted outside and quickly helped Fado stand up.
After a moment of awkward silence, Fado rubbed the back of his head with his hand and opened his mouth to say something. But just before he could say a word, Fado was interrupted by a loud and excited squeal in the distance.
Ignoring the background noise, Fado proceeded to ask Link a very important question. "Where in the world is Epona, shouldn't Ilia be done washing her by now?"
"Err... honestly, I believe that Ilia is keeping her as an excuse for me to come and get her myself. She's been following me around everywhere this past week, and it's kind of creeping me out. Don't get me wrong, she's an amazing friend and all, but sometimes I just can't stand that girl." Link replied, fiddling with his sleeves.
Fado eyed him suspiciously, but he decided that it would be best to stay out of Link's business.
"Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I have to go see what that squeal was about." Link averted his gaze as he walked down the path to Ordon Spring.
I know that that chapter was expectionally short, but for what I have planned, I couldn't combine this and the next chapter or it wouldn't be as dramatic. So stay tuned!
