Uniting of Ponds
A/N: Very short piece on Rory and Amy's reunion in A Good Man Goes to War because there should have been more :3
Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who
Amy suddenly begins to cry; her small, white hand suppressing the worst of her anguish. Rory, gentle as ever, brushes her face with the tip of his thumb. "What's wrong," he asks comfortingly.
"It's just..." Amy chokes back another wave of tears. "This is the first time I've touched you in nine months, touched you properly I mean, with these hands." She stares at them in wonder.
"But you were there," he soothes. "You were."
"No I wasn't. I was... but I wasn't," she corrects him, and rests her hand against his chest.
"It's beating," she says, and stares at his leather armour with subdued simplicity.
Rory huffs and Amy's hand moves along to the ripple of his amusement. "Yeah well, the human body, you know? It tends to do that."
Amy hits him a little and laughs between her sobs. "Shut up, stupid. You know what I mean."
"I always know what you mean," he says seriously and draws her into a hug, the baby, their baby, between them.
She blushes a little, but luckily she doesn't conform to the typical ginger stereotype of going red. "Don't even think about leaving me again, stupid face."
She means it affectionately of course, and Rory is the only man on the planet to see the truth in her particular language. Well, on their planet at least.
"Never again," he assures, and he lowers a finger for Melody to grasp. "I will always be there for you, Amy. I-I'd do anything for both of you, I promise."
She smiles. "God, you are sappy, aren't you... roman boy." Her hand reaches around and grabs the leather straps of his costume. She tugs on them teasingly. "You're wearing a skirt again."
"It's the Doctors fault!" He insists. "One, it's not a skirt! And two, well, you're supposed to be obsessed with Romans."
"Oi, I'm not obsessed! And I'd prefer you to wear it for me, not the Doctor," she winks.
"Amy!" He whines, and quickly covers Melody's little ears with his big and bony hands. "Not in front of the baby!"
"Oh, come off it," Amy laughs and they both look down at the little wonder of life between them.
"She's beautiful," he says softly. His face creases into a gentle smile.
Amy holds him tighter, never wanting to let go of her family again, afraid this moment will disappear. "I love you," she says, quietly and nervously; knowing she never tells him enough.
He knows though, below all his insecurities and doubts, he knows. It keeps him strong, and keeps him trying.
"Yeah well, I love you more, Mrs Williams."
She kisses him and then bites her lip a little. "You meant Pond, right?"
"Well, Williams-Pond, then." This is her husband being assertive.
"Oh, you're cute," she laughs. "But it's still Pond."
"Not even Pond-Williams?"
"Nope," she assures and bites his nose playfully. "But I love you."
"Apparently not enough to keep my name from dying out," he mutters.
But he's only teasing and soon he thinks, soon they'll be back in Leadworth and they can be a normal family.
A safe family.
A/N: I kinda got a bit of writers block for my Doctor/Rory bromance fic, and wrote this instead of the next chapter. I haven't written any direct Amy/Rory romance for a while and I love them ^^ R&R please!
