Synopsis: Claire is Massie's sister who had been at boarding school for the last several years. The two were best friends growing up, but they have grown apart over the years. Now Claire's back! Will things go back to the way they used to be or will their differences get in the way.
Massie Block stood in the cramped waiting room at the airport. It smelled like the homeless. Massie watched her mother and father hold up an embarrassing homemade sign that read "Welcome Home Claire!"
Massie sighed. Her little sister Claire seemed like she was unreal. When Claire was seven she had been shipped off to a prestigious boarding school in Florida that focused primarily on the arts. Massie hadn't seen her sister since. As much as she hated to admit it, Claire and Massie had been close growing up. Now Massie was fifteen while Claire was thirteen and Massie was less than thrilled to se her.
Massie whipped out her new glossy red phone her parents had got her as a "Sorry you have to share the little attention you get with the little sister that you hate" gift. She started to text Alicia.
What's up, A?
Shopping! Want in? ;)
Sorry! I'm stuck at the airport.
Why r u there?
My lil sis is coming home.
Alicia didn't text back. Instead, Massie's cell phone rang.
"Hey," said Massie.
"Did you just say you were picking up your sister?" asked Alicia, speaking slowly.
"Yeah."
"I, your best friend, should have been informed of this! I didn't even know you had a sister," said Alicia, appearing hurt.
Massie sighed. "She's a total brat. She's younger than me and I wish she'd just stay in Florida where she belongs."
"OMG, a mini Massie! Adorable! How old is she?"
"Thirteen," answered Massie begrudgingly. "And here she is. Gotta go, Leesh."
Even if Claire hadn't been squealing in delight over seeing her family, Massie would have known it was her from a mile away. Her horrible blonde hair color, terrible fashion style, and tacky bright orange suitcase set her apart from the other passengers.
"Massie!" squealed Claire, opening her arms for a hug. "I haven't seen you in forever."
"U-huh," said Massie, distracted. Kendra elbowed her and whispered, "Be nice to your sister."
Massie looked up from her phone and gave her sister a fake smile. "Hi,"
Kendra interrupted. "Okay girls, why don't you go to the little coffee place and catch up. Meet back here in an hour?'
