This is an alternate outcome for the myth of the Trojan War. In it, when Achilles fights Hector, Achilles only cripples him, and because of theis Paris doesn't shoot him in the heel. Also, Priam is dead, so now Hector is the King of Troy.
This was based on the trailers for Halo 5: Guardians, but it doesn't necessarily have much in common with it. I wrote it for an assignment in my mythology, and I probably won't be posting new chapters.
Achilles enters the Trojan throne room, gazing upon the dead and broken bodies of those who had taken refuge there and the soldiers who had tried to protect them. Nobody was on the throne itself, but at its base lay Hector, broken and defeated, but still breathing.
"Tell me Hector. Was it worth it?" Achilles spat, "Was the temporary happiness of a brother you barely knew worth the fall of your city? Was his lust for a married woman worth the lives of your friend and family?"
"No." Came the pitifully weak reply after several seconds. It was barely a whisper, but Achilles heard it. A grim smile spread across his face.
"You know, I respected you once. Troy's greatest warrior, slayer of a hundred Greeks. I thought you would actually give me a challenge," The smile begins twisting into a vicious sneer as he talks, "But then you killed my friend. Brutally slaughtered him because he poked a spear at you. His name was Patroclus, you know. He was my best friend, my brother. He wasn't a fighter, and he was no threat to you."
"I'm sorry." Hector says nearly half a minute later, a his voice sounding truly remorseful.
"Of course you are," Achilles responded, "Not because you killed though. You're sorry because of the consequences of his murder. Had you not killed him, I wouldn't have returned to the fight. I wouldn't have crippled you, and shattered your armies. Had it not been for me, Troy would've won. And you know this." As Achilles spoke, he walked closer and closer to the throne, until he stood over Hector, "You disappoint me, greatest warrior of Troy." Hector looks up, some last semblance of resistance in his eyes.
"Troy was the favored city of Zeus. Greece will burn, just as Troy has. Zeus will see to it." Hector growled. Achilles only smiled.
"Perhaps, and if he does try to do so, I will fight him. As I will fight any who threaten my home." Achilles raises his spear, right above Hector's heart. "Sleep now, last King of Troy. Your legend has ended, but mine is only beginning." With that, Achilles thrust his spear into the heart of Hector, killing him instantly. Achilles turns around, and walks out of the throne room, as a few of his Myrmidons threw torches in, setting the room ablaze. Achilles walks out of the palace, and then out of the city, Troy burning and buildings crumbling as he walked out.
