"Do it."
"No, Bruder."
"Do it."
"No."
"I need you do it."
"Bruder, I am not going to get in trouble just because you are attracted to my teacher."
"What is wrong with you? Help your bruder out. Have you seen your teacher?"
"I am not going to deliberately get in trouble, Bruder." Luddy had not taken his eyes off his homework the whole time. Gilbert scowled at it.
"What are you even working on?"
"Ms. Hedervary wants me to practice circle geometry."
"…You're ten."
"I was becoming too far ahead in mathematics—Bruder?" because he had finally looked up at Gilbert and Gilbert was smirking.
"You know what? Forget I said anything." Gilbert ruffled Luddy's hair. "You just go back out there and be awesome, okay?"
Luddy was looking at him suspiciously because not for a second did he believe Gilbert had given up trying to meet Ms. Hedervary. Gilbert was no freaking circle though and Luddy couldn't find his angle, so eventually he just said. "I will try my hardest, Bruder."
You always do, Gilbert thought smugly. "Make me proud," he said, still grinning as he walked out of the room. A kid that is too smart for the rest of the class is a kid that has to take advanced courses and a kid that wants to take advanced courses is a kid who needs the consent of a parent and/or guardian
which in this case
would be Gilbert.
Oh yeah.
He'd be hearing from Ms. Hedervary soon enough.
