Gears of War belongs to Epic Games.

It had been a long time since anyone had last seen Marcus Fenix cry. In fact Damon Baird figured the man had no tears in the first place. When Tai blasted himself in the face, all Marcus did was look sorrowful, not even close to crying. Even when the young Carmine died, Marcus just seemed to shove it off. Then again this wasn't just some friend from war. This was his friend, and his brother. This was Dom. Baird hadn't known Dom as long as Marcus, so his death wasn't as hard on him, yet the loss of Dom shook, even Baird, to his very core. Even Cole wasn't his usual cheery self. It shook Delta hard, and it wasn't going away any time soon. The moments of Dom's death played over and over again in Baird mind.

"You pitiful humans have ruined everything!" the Locust queen yelled.

In her hands was a boltok pistol aimed right at Marcus.

"Your numbers up bitch, just give up" Baird had yelled.

"No its not over yet" she smiled.

She fired the powerful pistol right at Marcus's head. Within a split second, before anyone could stop him, Dom threw himself in front of the oncoming bullet. It hit him squarely in the chest and he went down hard. A stunned Marcus let something out from his mouth that sounded like a wounded animal. His eyes had turned murderous and he revved him chainsaw. The Queen's eyes grew wide.

"I'm sorry Carlos" he muttered.

Marcus charged at the queen and slammed the chainsaw right threw her body. Baird couldn't tell who was screaming harder. The queen or Marcus. In the end her body was torn to shreds with Marcus breathing heavily. Marcus walked up to his father's machine (Gears of war 3 original ending on youtube. Do not watch if you want to avoid spoilers) and pulled the lever. Delta squad watched as the clears blue light spread across the planet killing all forms of Lambent and Locusts.

In all honesty Baird wasn't surprised at Dom's action. He knew that Marcus and Dom would die for each other. He just didn't want that to happen however. A large hand suddenly appeared on his shoulder.

"Hey Baird, Hoffman wants to see you" Cole said.

"What for?" Baird questioned. It wasn't like Hoffman could use him to crack that data disk of Prescott's anymore.

"I don't know baby. Something mechanical probably" Cole shrugged.

"Yeah. Thanks Cole" Baird turned past one of his only friends and went to go look for the old Colonel.

As he stepped into Hoffman's office the first thing that caught his eyes was an old photo of a middle-aged woman standing in a photograph. The Colonel himself was reading some reports when he first noticed Baird.

"Ah Corporal, nice to see you again" he said.

"Don't you think that's kind of unnecessary now that we aren't the part of the COG anymore?" Baird asked.

Hoffman sighed.

"Still have that mouth I see"

"The better to piss people off with"

Hoffman managed a small smile before picking up a large file with codenamed Time, on it. Baird's interest was perked.

"Tell me what you know about time travel Baird?" Hoffman asked.
