It was a normal Friday night at the precinct. The bullpen was empty except for Kate and him. The boys were running down a possible lead. They had been on a case for the past three days and hadn't gotten any leads. It involved a secretary whose body had been dumped Central Park. They had interviewed everyone close to her, the boss and the boyfriend had alibied out, nothing had stuck.
Beckett was staring intently at the murder board like she had been doing for the last half hour. He too was attempting to look at the murder board but was having a hard time with Kate looking so adorable, her face scrunched up in concentration.
"Castle, quit staring it's creepy" she said without even looking at him.
"Sorry, but we're not getting anywhere on this. Why don't we just go home and try again tomorrow?" he said shooting her a hopeful look. She didn't answer instead jumping up and crossing to the murder board.
"Home…" she mumbled as she looked back at the timeline. He knew better then to interrupt her now. Kate was onto something. "Castle we have been assuming that when our victim sent her friend the text that she was going "home" that she was going to her apartment. But what if…"
"It wasn't her "home" that she was going to but her boyfriend's" he said excitedly joining her in front of the board.
"That would put her over ten blocks from where we thought she was at time of death." Kate replied turning to face him.
He and Kate both looked to the map plastered on the board. "Her boyfriend's apartment is only a block away from the bar the boss said he was at the night of the murder."
"The bartender only confirmed he saw him at 11 and then again at 12:15 when he left, but no one can account for him between those times…" Kate said moving closer to him their noses almost touching.
"Giving him over an hour to commit the murder, dump the body, and return to the bar!" Castle practically yelled.
"God, Castle I love you." She gasped out. His jaw dropped, he spluttered at a loss for words. Kate just rolled her eyes turning back to the board "Geez Castle quit acting like a little girl. It's not like you didn't know that already."
Castle scanned the precinct floor making sure they really were alone and then grabbed Kate by the waist spinning her to face him. She made an involuntary noise as he pulled her to his chest. "Why do you have to be so frustrating?" He said pressing his lips to hers firmly.
"I though that's why you love me." Kate breathed between kisses.
"Um guys…" they were abruptly brought back to reality by the arrival of the boys. Kate jumped and tried to disentangle herself from Castle but he wouldn't release her.
"Boss is the killer. Can you two take care of him? We're a little busy." Castle said pulling Kate towards the elevator.
Ryan and Esposito just stared openmouthed as Castle and Beckett stumbled into the elevator. "Thanks boys!" Beckett yelled between kisses. "Gosh, we're never going to live this down." Kate gasped.
"It's not my fault you decided to say it at work."
"Sorry it just kinda slipped out" she said sheepishly. "But I meant it Rick. I love you."
"I love you too." He said pulling her in for a kiss.
"Bro, we are never going to unsee that." Esposito said still stunned from what they just witnessed.
"Eww. I knew Mom and Dad were together but that was just gross." Ryan responded.
"I know man. It's like they're in love or something."
