For Jennifer life was hard. She was going through a rough spot in her life. However she was a fateful believer in the heavenly Father. One day she met a new friend. This friend and her had spoken for awhile before she learned he had been a practicing WICKEN. Being that she was at the lowest point in her life that she had been in for a long time she had felt high temptation to ask her friend to use his magic to make things better for her family. She was also halfway tempted to cut off all ties with him because it was in her eyes wrong.
Still she resisted the temptation. She had a gentle nudge that told her he needed her. Later that night as she was lying in bed she heard a still small voice whisper to her, "I'm proud of you". She knew it was her Heavenly Father.
"Thank you Aba," she said, "May I ask why?"
"You passed my test," the Father said, "and resisted temptation."
"May I ask you something Aba," Jennifer asked.
"Ask and you will be answered," the Father replied.
"What would happen if someone did not pass your test," Jennifer asked, "Does that mean Hell for them?"
"Of course not. If you take a test in school and you fail does that mean you get expelled?"
"No. In my school I'm given extra help if I don't do well. I don't get punished for failing."
"In the same way if you fail my test it doesn't mean you get expelled. It simply means you need some extra help and maybe you need to study more. There will be many times you fail my tests and I will not be happy that you failed it but that doesn't mean anything in the long run."
"Lately I've been seeing a lot of stuff that really upsets me," Jennifer said, "Cruelty for example and intolerance and parents who have no patience for their children. Depression. It makes me cry. I feel like I'm on shaky ground."
"That's all normal. You feel lost and confused sometimes. But Jennifer you said a prayer once that I always led your footsteps and I do. You are a part of my perfect plan and I will not let you stumble and fall. You're my daughter and like a Father holds his child when they are first learning to walk then slowly lets go I will lead you by the hand and even when I let go I will always be nearby. I will always catch you before you fall. You have put yourself in my care and you can trust me to never let go of you."
"I just worry Father that I won't be able to hold on,"
"Jennifer it's not your responsibility to hold on to me. It is not the baby's responsibility to hold onto the parent. You are the baby. I am the parent. It is my job to hold onto you. I will always do so"
Let this be a word to encourage all of you who are struggling. Let this be a word to everyone who doubts. Love prevails. Love is stronger then doubt. The heavenly father is love. We don't hold onto him. He holds onto us and he never lets us go.
