Your Gaze
Hey, my second poem already! I'm on a role! My first one's response has emboddened me, so here it is.
I'm standing here,
Screaming silently.
Why can't you see me?
I'm right here,
Starving for your attention.
I stare right at you,
You gaze past me
At something I can't see.
I try so hard
To shift your line of sight
To me.
But I can't.
Why?
I know you're aware of me.
I see your eyes flick to me
Every so often
But, just as quickly,
Flick away.
Why can't you look at me?
I'm no Mona Lisa,
But am I that repulsive
That your eyes can't rest on me?
I try to grab
Your attention, but
Your gaze stalwartly rests
Beyond me.
It's like I bear an Invisibility Cloak.
One I cannot shed.
One day, though, I swear,
To finally accomplish
Something worthy of your attention.
Then, maybe, you'll see me
As I truly am.
Thanks for reading. As before, please read and review.
