HELLO! From now on, all author notes will be addressed in bold at the beginning of each chapter and at the end of each chapter (if I need to). Except for my own characters and a few places, I do not own any of this; Destiny is not my property.

Asdon Bar'Olmee was hungry. His food- the Ether his people need to survive- was in his pack, slung over his back, but to eat would require him taking off his helmet. That wasn't a good idea on the moon. The only place for miles around with air to breath was in his House's Ketch, safely nestled in a broad valley between two mountains. That was the reason Asdon was out here: he and a few of his Fallen brethren were sent out to scout out a new place to store their ships and loot, and maybe even find a few worthy ambush points along the way. Now, not only was he returning home without any success, but he had developed a nasty itch in the past few hours, which was impossible to scratch through his armor. Now, after so many wasted days, he was ready to come home. But of course fate wouldn't have it that way...

Suddenly the sensors in Asdon's helmet started to pick up movement, about twenty meters to his left behind a steep, grey hill of sand. Curious, Asdon took his cumbersome pack off and unslung his rifle strapped to its side. He slowly climbed the grey dune, wary for slippery patches of ground. Unlike Earth, there was no wind on the moon to round the sand particles, and as a result the sand was surprisingly firm underfoot. Asdon soon reached the top and looked on at the scene below: three Vex Goblins, searching among the wreckage of a broken shuttle- one of the Human's. Larger than a jumpship, the black shuttle was ripped in two, with one of its wings torn off and its belly slashed open like some dead animal, no doubt stripped for parts long ago by his brethren. Normally, Asdon would have been surprised by the Goblins' presence, but his House had noticed a swell in Vex activity recently, and the humanoid machines had even gone so far as to try to establish an outpost on the Moon. Of course, nothing escapes the notice of the House of Exile, especially on the moon, and the small base and its portals had been dealt with accordingly. Of course, this time Asdon didn't have a war-party with him, and the Vex were powerful adversaries against a lightly-armed Fallen. Asdon didn't want to engage with them at this range. Instead, he was going to have to get close, where he and his shock dagger would have an advantage over the clunky machines.

Asdon crept back down the dune, opting to go around it instead of over. The Goblins were oblivious to Asdon's presence, and he stalked closer towards the nearest one, blocked from its allies' view by the torn wing. Asdon drew closer to the wing, using its engine pod as cover, then drew his dagger. As if the Goblin heard him, it turned towards his hiding spot and moved towards it. Asdon waited for the machine to draw parallel to him, then jumped out from his hiding spot, jamming the knife into the Vex's neck. He levered the knife upward, tearing off the machine's head. He knew that these machines could still operate without their heads, so he pulled the knife up and followed with a quick jab, using the Vex's weakened state to stab the knife directly into its core. White liquid dripping from its smashed chest, The Goblin died. Now, he would have to act fast to take out the other Vex before they could converge on him. But before he had run four steps, he saw flashing lights come from the other side of the broken shuttle, a mix of red and blue gunfire.

Asdon moved to investigate, peering through one of the tears in the shredded Human shuttle. He was just in time to see one of the Goblins disappear in a flash of light, flashed vaporized by a burst of lightning. When the bright lightning faded, he saw something moving towards the last Goblin, on the opposite side from where Asdon was hiding. Suddenly, the Vex was punched backwards and Asdon saw its combatant. His four eyes flared with rage.

I know that chapter was a little short, but expect longer ones to follow.
