Cassie lets the rain fall on her face and body. She wishes the rain could wash away the sadness and guilt she's felt since she got back from the hospital.
The rational part of her new she did the right thing by getting rid of it. Azazeal and her child. Abomination. She knew that if it was born, it would destroy mankind. But the part of her, a small part, wanted to have their child. She rubs her now empty stomach. The heart wants what the heart wants, no matter what the head says.
Cassie sighs. Not this time. No amount of rain can wash away her sins.
She turns and walks slowly back into the building.
