I stared out the window of my room, eager for my mystery guest to get here. I had recently become famous for the youngest, at 16, pregnant-with-twins lady in Texas. So, as predicted, press lined up outside, crowding the house with flashing cameras, writing pens, and large notebooks. They were awaiting my mystery guest. Well, he was a mystery to them. To me, he was my long term best friend, 19 year old Jackson Rathbone. We'd met over the computer on my birthday, July 30th, around six months ago, when news of my pregnancy first started to go around, and when I'd first learned about it. He was in Huntsville, Alabama at the time, and I was in Houston, Texas. Jackson was wary at first, when I'd poured out my heart to him, how I was scared, confused, and upset about everything that was going on in my life. It was only for a little while though, soon he gave me his cell number and told me to call anytime, especially when I was stressed. We ended up calling each other every night, we'd talk about how our days went, and then he'd sing me to sleep when I got tired. That plan went on until a week ago, when he told me he was coming down to his hometown, Houston, and that he wanted my aunt's, I was living with her as my parents divorced and left me to her, permission for me to live with him. So, I begged Aunt Angie, and she had just smiled and told me to be careful.
I smiled as a red truck pulled into the driveway, and pulled myself up from the round window seat. I nearly ran outside, and he jumped out of the truck, running to embrace me. I started crying as he kissed the back of my cheek, near my ear, and whispered to me.
"Don't worry, Alexis, darlin'. I'll get you outta here." I sighed as he pulled away and held my hand, leading me to the other side of his truck. I climbed carefully into the truck, and we drove off.
By the time we pulled up to his house, it felt like we'd known each other forever, not just a few months. He helped me out of the car, and walked me to the door. After he had unlocked it, he went back for my bags, and I went inside. I could tell from the outside of the beautiful house that it had to be two of three stories high, but the inside was more amazing than I could have imagined. It was like he knew just what I liked. The house wasn't to fancy, but it was breathtaking. With an incredible view of the city, even though it was far out in a secluded area in Houston, the city was just as beautiful far away as it was up close. Not only that, but the colors were just gorgeous. The house itself was very open, spacey and very homey at the same time. The walls were painted medium gray, and a large, chocolate brown couch wrapped around two walls. The ceiling was a very light gray, nearly white, and the carpet was pale brown. All in all, a pretty house. Jackson walked through the doors, carrying my bags nearly effortlessly, and smiled.
"D'ya like it? I thought it would make you happy, what with the pale colors. Oh, and there's even a room for the twins. I had it made just in case you wanted to stay after they're born, too." My jaw dropped and his grin faded.
"I'm sure we can get another house if you don't like it." Jackson said, his expression worried. He started to say something else, but I cut him off.
"Stop Jackson." I whispered, pushing my long copper curls out of my eyes so I could see better.
"It's gorgeous, more than I could've ever imagined."
