A/N: Hello, everyone! I hope you enjoy my first attempt at a Gohan/Videl story. It takes place during the Saiyaman Saga before the World Martial Arts Tournament , a little while before Goku comes back to Earth to participate.

UPDATE: I am warning everyone right now before someone gets P.O'd, but this is the story of what happened between Goham and his relationships with Videl and Vegeta while Goku was in other world, at least my take on it. It ends when Goku returns, and I know a lot of you will hate me for it, but I left it where it ends because everything else that happens after is what happened in the anime.

Enjoy!

Dear Gohan,

You're awkward, adorable, and somehow perfect.

It is for these reasons and more why I like you so much.

Not in the cheesy, over-the-top, can't live without you kind of way.

But in a way that gives me a sense of joy when you look at me.

You are the reason I am never absent from class.

I hope you enjoy the chocolate that was attached to this card.

It has a lot of nuts in it, because it represents the insanity you have brought to my life.

P.S. Do not tell anyone about this letter, or mention it ever. I will murder you.

Love,

Videl

"What cha readin' there, Gohan!?" The uncanny mini version of his father popped into the teenager's room, startling and making him fall out of his wheeled chair. He was fuming.

"Don't sneak up on me like that, Goten!" Gohan's response was muffled due his mouth full of chocolate, but Goten understood every word as every form of communication during dinner time at the Son's house was like this.

"What are you getting so scared for, huh?" Goten pointed an accusing feeling at Gohan, a huge smile on his face. "Is that letter from that pretty girl we were training with?"

"No!" Gohan defensively yelled and held the card close to his chest, trying hard to conceal it. "It's- It's homework!"

Goten opened his mouth to speak, but his next words were muffled by his mother's calls.

"BOYS! It's time for dinner!"

Thankful for the distraction, Gohan watched as his little brother ran out of the room, jumping for joy. He shook his head and smiled. He just couldn't believe how much he looked like his father, and the way he acted around food was no denying he was Goku's son.

Gohan's smile grew even bigger thinking about his hero.

He was finally, after seven years, coming home.

Even if it was for twenty four hours.

For those twenty four hours, everything would feel right again. "I've missed you so much, Dad." Gohan's eyes looked at the stars of the dark night through the window of his room. "These next two weeks is going to take forever."

"GOOOOOOHAAAAAAAN!"

Oh, mother. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" He re-read the hand-made letter with a red heart painted on the front one last time before placing it underneath his mattress.

"Oh, boys. I can't believe your father will be coming home in two weeks!" ChiChi gushed. She had gotten so use to the disturbing way her sons ate, that it didn't bother her any more. "I wonder what I'll wear!"

Gohan was tuning his mother out, his mind both on a certain girl and the rice before him. I wonder what dad will say when he finds out the girl I like is the daughter of Mr. Satan, he smirked at the thought. He'll probably laugh so hard it-

"Mom," Goten sat his fork down and looked at ChiChi seriously. "I need a moment of silence to speak."

His hard-working mother had to stifle back her laughter at the sight of her youngest child trying his best to be an adult. "What is it, sweetie?"

Goten cleared his throat, and pointed his finger at Gohan who was eyeing him suspiciously. "Gohan has a girlfriend!"

Gohan spit up his food, his face red with embarrassment. "She's not my girlfriend!"

ChiChi rubbed her chin, looking at how flushed her Gohan was. Her attention turned to the proud little boy with his finger still pointed at his brother. "I had a suspicion, Goten. Is it that loud girl whose been training with him?"

Gohan wished at that moment he had the power to turn into a puddle and drain away. He looked down at his near-empty plate, hiding his guilty face from his mother. "She's just my friend, Mom. That's all."

"Oh, yeah?" Goten jumped up and down. "Then why did she write all that mushy stuff in that letter?"

"Letter?" ChiChi was inquisitive. "What letter?"

"The one Gohan was cuddling up with ever since he got home from school!" Goten was absolutely beaming at this point.

Both of their eyes were on the silent but red Gohan, who kept praying for another distraction that would never come. Videl wasn't his girlfriend... At least, he didn't think she was.

Right?

Right, yeah. They were friends.

But there was no denying they had grown fond of each other...

Still.

Just friends.

He was certain. Almost.

"Are you going to speak up, son?" ChiChi had her arms crossed, half-irritated and half-amused.

Once Gohan felt his face color returning to normal, he looked up at his impatient mother. "We are just friends, mom."

"Well, good!" Chi Chi uncrossed her arms, and took a sip of her water. "That Videl girl is so rude. She's demanding, pushy, stubborn..."

As her list went on and on, Gohan looked at her in disbelief.

It sounded like she was describing herself!

After dinner, Gohan still needed to finish his homework. He was always up late to complete his assignments now, thanks to Videl. She always followed him home and stayed by his side after school, perfecting her flying skills.

If spending time with her meant staying up this late at night, he didn't mind one bit.

"Gohan?" A sleepy voice emerged from under the sheets of the smaller of the two beds in the room. He looked over his shoulder at Goten, his spiky hair slowly popping out and finally his face was exposed.

"Yeah?"

"I can't sleep, Gohan. I keep thinking about our dad... What is he like?"

Gohan smiled at the little one, and motioned him over to his desk. Goten crawled out of the bed and hurried to his side. "Well, for starters, if you look in the mirrors you will see him for sure. You two look so much alike, it's crazy."

Goten blushed, and then shook his head in protest. "No, no. I know what he looks like, everybody has told me! But, what is he like?"

The muscular teenager rubbed his chin and looked out the window for the second time that night. His eyes were focused heavily on one star in particular, wondering if that was where his father was now. He closed his eyes as memories of Goku flashed through his mind, particularly when he took Gohan fishing and the day he sacrificed himself against Cell in order to save those that he loved.

In order to save those he didn't even know.

Gohan's eyes opened slowly, and kept them on the stars as he spoke to Goten. "He's like an angel."

Goten looked in awe at the words his brother spoke, and followed his line of vision to the starry night sky, wondering if he might be lucky enough to catch the glimpse of the angel before his arrival.

"Am I really that awkward?" Gohan questioned Videl as they sat on the rooftop of the school, completely hidden from the view of the hundreds of other students. The blue-eyed girl laughed.

"Yes, but I think it's adorable." Videl mentally slapped herself. Did she really say that out loud?

"Why are you blushing?" Gohan chuckled nervously, taking a bite of the ham sandwich his mother prepared for him. Or should he say, giant sub. And he was planning on eating all of it.

"I'm not!" She yelled, startling the young Saiyan beside her.

"You shouldn't be embarrassed! I read the card! You said I was adorable in there, too!"

"Well," Videl huffed, sending a glare his way. "I meant to put adorkable. Because that's what you are. A big, giant dork!" She stuffed her hamburger into her mouth, not wanting Gohan to see right through her.

He kept his eyes on her, though.

She completely mesmerized and confused him.

"Did you mean what you said about liking me, though?"

Videl choked on her food, and then angrily stood up. "What did I tell you about repeating what it said, since you've read it so well?"

Gohan sweat-dropped and nervously put his sandwich down so he could raise his hands, motioning her to calm down. "I just want to know if it's true, that's all. I haven't told anyone about it."

She raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"

"Yes!"

Except for my nosy brother and my mother who hates you.

"I-I don't have time for this!" Videl turned her back to Gohan, hiding her blush. "I have to go to class now, bye!" She began to take flight, and disappeared from Gohan who was frowning and looking down at his watch.

"But... Lunch isn't even over yet!" Gohan called, yet knowing she didn't have the kind of hearing he did.

Gosh, maybe she wasn't being truthful about liking me... Man! Why is she so confusing!

Gohan took angry bites of his sandwich, chewing away and thinking.

Is it because she's a full-blooded Earthling and I'm only half? Are women from Earth really hard for us Saiyans to understand?

Chew, chew.

Oh, I wish Dad was here already! He married a girl just like her! And I can't talk to mom about this. She hates her!

Chew, chew.

What am I going to do? If I don't find out how to get Videl to know that I like her, I might lose her! But who else besides Dad would know how to make women of Earth happy?

Choking, choking.

VEGETA! He's a lot more worse than me, yet Bulma has stayed with him for all this time!

The young half-blooded Saiyan took a chug of his milk, finishing it completely. He shook his head at his last thought. Yes, Vegeta has managed to make his relationship work. But, Vegeta was mean! Small talk with him was impossible. Especially if it was about this sort of thing.

With the son of his rival.

Who has ruined his plans numerous times.

And probably has ordered a hit on him.

Gohan's doubt quickly disappeared when he looked towards the direction Videl flew off to. He stuck his chest out, determined.

If he wanted to take that leap, he would have to plunge first.

Plunge towards the hell that is Vegeta.

He took a deep breath, and took flight to Capsule Corp.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this first chapter! I tend to update faster lately, due to the ideas that have been spewing out of me. But, with that said, sometimes quality is better than quantity and I would more than happy for critics or suggestions on making my writing grow!

Thank you guys so much for reading!
