Chapter 1- Engaged

"Emmett, please," I told my brother, "your idea doesn't make any sense at all!" I had been arguing with my brother since the past hour. But, of course, convincing Emmett is just as difficult as getting a newborn baby to say your name- Impossible. Emmett, backed by Jasper and Alice, continued to be as stubborn as a mule. We had just come from our hunting trip and I had just a few minutes to spare before I went to meet my Bella. Just the thought of her name made me want to smile, but my sharp brain quickly registered the fact of what Emmett had just sprung on me. "A bachelor party? This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of in my entire 104 years! And, this kind of a party is for-"

"Humans?" Alice interrupted, "we know, Edward. But your reasoning doesn't make much sense as well. You're marrying Bella, marrying her. If I'm not mistaken, that's a very human thing, right? Also, you were always so keen on her not to miss out on the human things. Why don't you take a chance on something that a normal human might do? For once, without pretending." Alice was obviously missing the point here. "Alice," I began slowly, "first of all, I'm not a human. Second of all, I was keen on not missing the humanly things for Bella, not for myself. And third-" I was interrupted by the expression on Alice's face. Her expression was blank, vacant, and empty. Her eyes were focused on something far away. If I didn't know better, she was having a vision. Because of my- very useful- gift of mind reading, I was immediately aware of what Alice was seeing. I sighed in defeat. Emmett and Jasper looked from Alice to me and back to Alice again, with very dumbfounded expressions. As abruptly as it came, the vacant look disappeared and a triumphant and- somewhat smug- look appeared in its place. "Do you still want to argue?" Alice asked me in a very smug tone.

"Okay, you guys have got to stop doing that. It's really, really irritating." Jasper said in a very annoyed tone. "What happened? What did you see, Alice? Somebody please tell us what's going on!" Emmett cried in frustration. 'Do you want to tell them, or should I give them the good news that the party's back on?' Alice thought, with a grin on her face. I sighed again, involuntarily, and answered my brothers in a tone which showed my obvious annoyance, "Alice, has just seen me willingly go to the bachelor party. And if I behave difficultly, she sees you both dragging me to the party from Bella's house. Either way, I guess I'm going to be there at your stinking party."

Jasper winked at Alice and then grinned with Emmett. "So, what time do we drag our to-be groom of a brother to the party, Al?" Jasper asked Alice. She gave him a broad smile and said, "9 PM would be great, Jazz." I glared at each of them before I threw my hands up in frustration and stormed out of the room. I heard their laughter from behind me, as well as their thoughts. I could tell that they were doing this with nothing but good intentions, but I still could not control my fuming. I got into my silver Volvo and drove off to Bella's house, for she was the only person who could calm me down with her bizarre, human antics. I smiled at the thought of seeing Bella, and drove even faster.
