This takes place right after Debbie finds the body in 210 just a little gap filler I came up with.
I drive up to the diner with Mikey Ted and Emmet. First thing we notice is there are cop cars surrounding the diner. Ordinarily I'd drive by, let the cops do their thing and that'll be the end of it. But there's one difference today, Justin is already there.
Now I am scared and my mind is filled with questions.
What the fuck happened?
Is Justin okay?
What about Deb?
And of course,
What the fuck happened?
So I park the car, and walk as fast as I can around all the cop cars. The gang is literally two steps behind me.
We finally get to here the bulk of cops are and Michael immediately flies to Deb's side. My eyes, however, focus on the blond man standing wonderfully unharmed, next to her.
Our eyes meet and he puts an arm around my waist. I try to act nonchalant, and like I didn't just have a silent panic attack three seconds ago.
"Look a stiff." I say, trying to lighten the mood. It doesn't work and Justin just burrows closer to me. I lean down to look at the body and he backs away a little.
"Jesus what happened?" Ted asked.
"God is he dead?" The suddenly not so flaming Emmet adds.
"What the hell you serve him Deb?" Ok I admit that was a little cold hearted, but I was having such lezbionic feelings a minute ago a bit of ass-hole-ness will do me some good.
"Any of you know this guy?" A slightly overweight, slightly balding cop asks.
"I do." Justin says. They were the first words he said since I got here and I was surprised at how calm he was.
"I danced with him once at Babylon." He finishes, looking a little disappointed in himself.
"I don't suppose you got his name?" The cop says, and that's when I saw it. A flash of hurt ran over Justin's face. I knew that look. He was blaming himself. He didn't know the guys name, so he feels horrible. I needed to get him out of there fast.
"Well I'm starved, lets eat." I say. With that we all turn and go into the diner, but before Justin goes in I pull him aside, leaning him against my jeep parked in the street.
"You okay?" I ask, my voice barely a whisper. He nods his head but see tears welling up in his eyes so I pull him into a hug. He hugs me back and starts to talk into my neck.
"I should've asked for his name. Brian I can't believe I didn't know his name."
I pull him off my chest and look him in the eye.
"Listen to me. Are you listening?" He nods and I continue.
"No one saw this coming. You didn't know you might have to identify the guy. It is not your fault they don't know his name okay? Don't blame yourself I won't let you."
He looks down and I pull his chin up.
"Got it?" He nods again and I pull him into a careful, comforting kiss.
"Now don't you have to be getting to work?" I ask. Again he nods and we both walk into the diner and proceed with the day.
