Sand swirled as if it were dust. Not a creature could be seen in this storm, nor could a creature survive it. Then why was there someone out there? Were they lost? Or just the little girl's imagination?
"Papa," she called out. "I think there's someone in the sand!"
"Nonsense, Mia." He father said, appearing behind her. "There's no one⦠There is!"
"I told you, Papa!"
Mia followed her father through the quiet house as he grabbed his heavy coat and cloth to put around his face.
"Now, Mia, I want you to get some water ready." Her father instructed. "They might still be alive."
She nodded as her father forced his way out the door. Mia dragged a chair across the tile floor to the sink and filled a large glass full of water. She didn't want the person out there to be thirsty.
Several minutes pass, soon twenty, and then thirty minutes pass. Finally, after what seemed to be forever to the four year old, her father and a red coat came through the door.
"You have the water, Mia?" she could barely hear through the cloth.
She nodded and gave the glass to her father. He settled the red mass onto the couch and forced the water in somewhere; Mia couldn't tell if it had a face or not. The cloth shuddered and gave a cough and sand filled hair emerged from the top.
"Th-Thanks!" the hair croaked. The sound of buttons unfastening was heard and a pale face came from the red cloth. He smiled. "I really appreciate it. I would've died out there."
"You really have Mia to thank." The father said, laying a hand on the girl's shoulder. Mia smiled sheepishly.
"Well, thank you, Mia." The blonde man smiled.
"You-You're welcome." She mumbled and hid behind her father.
Author's Note: This was written at school during study hall and is just a random adventure of Vash's. I don't really know why I wrote it, but here it is. Just a spur of the moment thing. Most likely a one-shot. n.n
