Summary: He had done more difficult things, so why was this so hard?
His hand twitched.
You can do it. It's just hanging there at her side. Just…do it.
The muscles in his arm locked as his hand lifted halfway up to hers.
This is easy. It's just like drawing from the deck, just reach out and…
His palm began to sweat and he returned his hand rigidly to his side.
Come on. You've done scarier things, right? Grow a backbone!
His legs trembled.
Oh great. Now she's staring. Good job, genius, you aren't weirding her out at all.
He felt his face heat up when he saw that startled expression on her face. Great, now he was worrying her.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
He cleared his throat. Say something.
"Nice weather we're having."
She stared down at him with a slight frown marring her features. "It's raining."
Idiot. "O-oh yeah."
She eyed him with a confused expression. "Are you feeling all right? You look flushed."
"Yes, I'm fine," he reassured her. "I just remembered that I have to go get that one book from the library for that one project and…well, I'll see you later!" he continued just a tad too hastily, beating a hasty retreat.
Jounouchi sighed, watching Yugi practically flee from Anzu. "Universe one, Yugi zip," he remarked, returning to the card game he was playing with Honda, Otogi, and Ryou.
Otogi looked up from the game in time to watch Yugi disappear from view. "What was he going to ask her this time?" he asked in exasperation. "Help with homework? Going to see a movie?"
"No. He was trying to hold her hand," responded Ryou sagely as he placed one card on top of the pile.
The remaining three boys let out similar sounds of sympathy.
