I am trying to get back into writing after not writing so much recently so any constructive criticism would be a great help.

Melinda watched as the machines in the next room beeped and flashed. Scared that the moment she so much as blinked, the line in the middle of the screen would stop moving and Skye would be dead.

"Mel you need to sleep," advised Coulson gently, as he joined her at the observation window. "Simmons said it could be days before she wakes up."

"Look who's talking," scoffed Melinda, refusing to take her eyes off the girl on the bed in front of her. "You have barely slept in the 4 days since Skye was shot."

"I'm fine, I've been trained to go days with little or no sleep," Coulson reminded her, as he looked at the little girl that, for all intense and purposive was his daughter, the daughter that he never thought he would ever have, a daughter that he came so close to losing at the hands of a mad man.

"We both have," snapped May, yes she may have spent the last few years riding a desk, but that didn't take away the fact that she was one of the best agents that Shield has ever had. I mean only a few agents in Shields history have ever been given a nickname...and yes while she may hate anyone calling her it, that doesn't take away the fact that she had been given one. Something that Coulson had never managed to get, no matter how much the director called him, his 'one good eye'.

"Mel..."

"No I'm not leaving her," snapped Melinda, finally turning to look at him. "I have to be here in case she needs me,"

"Mel nothing is going to happen to her if you leave for a few hours. You heard Simmons, all of Skye's test came back normal...the drug worked."

"You mean like nothing was going to happen 20 years ago," snapped May, her voice laced with years repressed anger and regret. Anger and regret that neither of them had been able to figure out if it was aimed at him or herself. "I listened to you once and it cost me my daughter. I'm not going to make that mistake again."

Stepping around Coulson, May walked into the room and took residence on the vacant chair residing beside Skye's bed. Not even bothering to glance his was, as she knew he would not dare to approach her until she had a chance to regain control of her emotions and once again because ever ones favourite Ice Queen.
