Heartstrings Come Undone
"Because, I love you!"
She screamed this so loud, her face turned a deep shade of crimson.
The other person in the room seemed to finally let her words sink in. Covering her face with her hands, she slides down onto the floor, glad that no one is on shift right now to witness this breakdown that she was trying to force back inside.
Sobs wracked her body.
The strawberry blonde lowered herself onto the floor next to the sobbing red head, and wrapped her arms around her, causing the red head to cling instantly to her form.
This last fight had broke whatever thread had been holding her together, and she let everything loose as she buried her head into the neck of her confidante, and love. This wasn't fair, it wasn't supposed to be exposed, never supposed to be told to anyone.
"Sara…" Catherine began, trying to get her to stand.
"Sara, honey, lets go somewhere else, okay?" Cat said gently as she lifted up the form of the dismayed woman. She was so distraught, all she could manage was a feeble nod, and Cat pulled them out of the building and into her Denali.
Catherine helped Sara up into Catherine's house, and into the living room, setting the red head onto the couch, and placing herself next to her.
Placing her hand on Sara's knee, she told her, "Look at me."
Sara took her time as she turned her head to look at the blonde. Catherine was lost for a moment as their eyes locked, but quickly regained her senses, and broke the tight silence that was encompassing them.
"I love you, too." She said simply.
Sara's eyes went wide as her signature gap-toothed grin resurfaced. Cat leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her lips. They broke apart a while after.
"How long?" Cat asked.
"Forever and a day." Sara replied.
"Are you happy?"
"Happy that we had to fight for you to find out by mistake? No, not quite."
Cat smiled.
"Are you happy I at least found out?"
Sara thought for a moment.
"Definitely."
She smiled again as Catherine leaned in once more.
