A/N: Okay, so, I wrote this a really, really, really long time ago, but I recently found it and decided, what odds, and now I've posted it. It's cheesy, but who doesn't love a little bit of cheese! Anyhow, enjoy!
I know I should pay attention to my math class, but I can't help but stare at the girl next to me. Her perfect dark hair always in place, not a smudge of anything ever on her clothes, always putting others before her, she was beautiful.
"Ichigo?!" The teacher said sternly, snapping me back to the real world with a jolt. "if you're done daydreaming, please answer the question."
Turns out, I had no idea what he was talking about. I spent a half hour in detention after school for it. A half hour away from her, and she'll probably be out when I get home. She's always out after school. Sometimes she even misses supper - which i sneak into my room for her every day - but i guess that's what I should expect from the girl who lives in my closet. Although, she is home some nights, and even though kon hogs her all the time, it's still time alone.
"ICHIGO!" My dad yells, trying to attack me as I walk in the front door. He continues to yell as he rolls away after the punch I just landed on him.
"What the hell dad?! Why do you insist on doing this every day, huh?!" He just got up and didn't reply. I walked inside, grabbed the food left on the table for me, and went straight to my room. To my surprise, she was home. Still in her school uniform, she lied still on my bed, her chest slowly rising and falling. She looked like a little kid when she slept; curled up on her side, only taking up a fraction of the bed, her hair sprawling in every direction. I didn't want to wake her, so I laid the plate of food on the desk, and went out again. I was opening my door when I was stopped by a soft, sleepy voice.
"Ichigo?" She yawned.
"Oh, hey Rukia. Sorry if I woke you." I closed the door and stepped back in towards the bed. Rukia sat up as I sat on the edge.
"No, you didn't wake me. It's fine." She assured. I didn't believe her but I just went along with it any way. I reached over and grabbed the food off the desk and handed it to her. She smiled and took a rice ball from the small plate.
"You should have the other one, Ichigo. There really good!" Rukia offered. It was the first meal she had all day so I wasn't going to just eat it.
"You have it. I already ate" I lied. I'd just go get a snack later. A look of worry crossed her face.
"Ichigo, can I ask you somthing?" She asked.
"Yeah, of course. What is it?"
"Do you, um... like Orihime? I mean, like like?" I was taken aback by her question.
"No way, Orihime and I are just friends. What gave you that idea?"
"Well, I saw you staring in her direction today in math, and you hang out with her a lot and, oh I don't know. I guess it was kinda stupid to ask."
"Rukia, no question of yours could be stupid. Either way, I wasn't looking at Orihime." I said grinning slightly at her. She looked up at me with wide eyes that sparkled like glowing sapphires.
"Well, who were you...?" She stopped, surprised, when my hand went up to move a piece of hair from her eyes. I moved in closer to her, and kissed her. She tensed at first, but in a matter of seconds, all hesitation was gone and her arms were wrapped around my neck. She relaxed, but more importantly, she didn't stop me.
She kissed me back.
