The early morning rays of sun trickled through the curtains; I groaned and turned over under my blankets. Gosh another year at Beacon Hill High, only one more after this. The thought cheered me up just enough for me to get my lazy butt out of bed and into the shower. I let the water soak into my skin relaxing my muscles, relaxing me into a dazed state which turned into a startled shriek when someone started banging on the bathroom door. "What's taking you so long?" my mom yelled "you've been in there for a half hour already." Had it been that long, I thought, wow I need to get ready or I'll miss the bus. I quickly jumped out of the shower and threw on some clothes and a bit of makeup. Then I ran downstairs to grab something quick before the bus got here. When I got downstairs my mom stood there and shook her head at me" it's only the first day and you're already running late" I grinned at her "well old habits die hard" and grabbed the sandwich she was holding, my bag and ran out to catch the bus which had just pulled up.
I climbed onto the smelly old rusty yellow bus and took the only empty seat at the front, waiting for the next stop where I would get to see my best friend Amanda whom I hadn't seen all summer since she was away at camp. The bus slowly creaked its way down the two blocks and we pulled up in front of her house. Amanda was waiting at the mailbox just like her perfect nerdy self does every day of the school year so she won't be late. Amanda has been my best friend since we were in kindergarten together and we weren't cool enough to be friends with the other kids, not that we get picked on, we just stick together and everyone ignores us and we like it this way. I look over at her as she sits down next to me "how was nerd camp?" she glares at me "It's not nerd camp, its camp for the extremely gifted of the minds" I smile at her and shake my head "same difference". We both look at each other and laugh since we go through this at the beginning of each year.
