His Klingon

Tom sat at a table set for two on the holodeck. He tapped his fingers impatiently on the table as he waited.

Finally, he spotted B'Ellana emerging from the holographic crowd.

"Finally, I was beginning to think you were going to cancel on me." Tom said as she sat down

"Sorry, I got caught up in engineering." She apologized

"Again." Tom added

"What's that supposed to mean?" B'Ellana questioned

"Well," Tom began, but he was soon interrupted by a holographic waiter.

"What will you be having? We have-"

"Computer, freeze program." B'Ellana ordered. She gave Tom a signal as if to say "continue"

"Well, um... sometimes it's like you don't even care." Tom said cautiously

"Tom, trust me, I care about you way more than some stupid warp core breach, I love you." She insisted.

Tom smiled.

"I got you something." B'Ellana said

"You got me something?" Tom was suddenly excited as he sat up in his chair.

B'Ellana pulled out a small, poorly wrapped box from her pocket.

"Sorry about the horrible wrapping job, I got kind of frustrated with the tape..." She laughed.

Tom laughed with her. There's the half Klingon I love. Tom thought

"I think it has character." With that, he opened the gift to find a beautiful watch that B'Ellana had replicated.

He put it on right away and told her he loved it.

He truly did love it, it wasn't a lie, but frankly, he would have been just as happy if the box had been empty, because at that moment he wasn't thinking about how many times B'Ellana had canceled on him. He wasn't even thinking about how much he loved his new watch. He was thinking about how much he loved his Klingon.
