Disclaimer: I do not own "Strong Medicine" or Lu, Lana, Peter, and Nick.

Hey guys! So I haven't written a 'Strong Medicine' story before. This is just an idea that came to me...you'll either like it or hate it. Just pretend that Peter has a brother who got with one of Nick's sisters and they had a kid. That is basically what is going on here. Thanks. :)

"Well Quinn, as always, you're healthy." Lu smiled as she followed her friends' 13 year old niece out of the exam room and into the waiting room

Quinn smiled. "Thanks, Lu. I'm sorry my mom couldn't come again today…she had to work." She sighed. "I think." She muttered to herself.

Lu nodded just as Peter walked up. "Hello ladies."

"Hey Uncle Peter." Quinn hugged him.

"Hey where's your mom?" He wondered, looking around.

She shrugged. "Probably working or something…I figured I would just catch the bus home after lunch."

He shook his head. "Nonsense. One of us will take you home after lunch." He paused. "You should probably go tell Nick."

She shook her head. "No! He got so mad at Mom last time…I don't want a repeat of that."

"Quinn Biancavilla…you shouldn't be lying to your uncle."

"I didn't! I told you!" She flashed a quick grin.

He rolled his eyes. "Very funny, Quinn."

Nick sighed as he pulled up in front of Quinn's apartment building. "Are you sure you'll be okay by yourself?"

She chuckled. "Uncle Nick, I do this basically every day during the summer. It is always the same every Wednesday. I have lunch with one or both of you, and then I come home and sit alone for a few hours until Mom comes home from work. I'll be fine. I promise."

"But you're only thirteen! Anything could happen…you could be kidnapped or get hurt."

"And then I would go to the hospital and you and Uncle Peter would fix me up." She laughed.

Her uncles were always protective; ever since her father had walked out, they felt that protectiveness needed to come from them.

"Alright fine, but you better answer when I call you later." He fake-scolded and watched her disappear into the building.

She quickly went into her home and locked the door. Looking around she sighed. "Mom, where are you?"

The sky had grown dark and the clinic was full of the regulars when that night rolled around. Nick sighed as he walked out of the ER and headed towards the RWHC. He spotted Peter immediately and grinned at his friend.

"Have fun being stuck here all night." He teased and Peter rolled his eyes.

He ignored the thunder outside and shoved Nick's shoulder. "I will. I will enjoy it."

At the same time, Lana was working on her computer when someone walked up to her desk.

"Fill this form out and sit to wait your turn."

"Lana…"

Lana looked up and gasped. "Oh my God, Quinn. You're soaked."

She nodded, her teeth chattering. "Mhmm."

"Nick! Peter! Get over here." She shouted for them as she threw her jacket around the young girl's shoulders.

"Quinn?" Nick asked, shocked. "Lu grab a blanket."

As the blanket was thrown around her shoulders, the four adults ushered her into Lu's office to sit on the couch. Peter sat down next to her and they all noticed her hands clenched tightly around something.

"How did you get here?" Nick asked.

"I walk-ked." She shivered violently and Peter tried to warm her up.

"Quinn…what are you doing here so late? Are you okay?" Peter gently asked, trying to pry her hands apart so he could see what she was holding.

She shook her head and Nick crouched in front of her. "What's wrong? Where's your mom?"

"Gone. She's gone." She finally held out her hands and they all saw the note crumpled between her fingers as she dropped it to the floor. "She left."
