Another fanfic written when I should have been studying, because my muse is a sadist who enjoys watching me fight the urge to write while trying to get some information into my brain.
I think this couple needs some love. To be honest, most het couples in Hetalia need more love, but today is the Tsundere Federation's turn. Maybe some other day I'll see if write something for the others (probably not, there's a GerIta idea running around my head asking for attention and the other couples have stayed really quiet).
I leave you with the story, I hope you like it (if you do, please leave a review or a quick comment telling me you read it, I'll be happy and you'll make me feel that leaving study for later might not have been such a bad idea).
Warnings: un-betaed, English is not my first language (if you see a mistake, please point it out and I'll correct it).
Disclaimer: "Axis Powers: Hetalia" belongs to Himaruya and maybe someone else (I'm too lazy to try to find out).
A month after the war was over, England came to visit her. He walked to her door, raised his hand to knock on it and turned around to leave at least three times. He was thinking about coming back some other day and saving himself the incommodity when the door was opened and she found him there, looking uncomfortable and with his hand still raised to knock on her door.
He pretended he was in control of the situation and greeted her normally, commenting that this was his last stop before returning home, because he'd decided to visit everyone he knew before going back, so he could get an idea of how they were doing now that peace had returned, and no, there weren't any other reasons to make him come here (but he didn't say that he'd been wanting to go to see how she was doing since the negotiations had finished, and that the only reason he'd visited all the others before her was because it wasn't correct to not see them too), and why does she look so messy when it's lunchtime already?
Seychelles straightened her dress and fixed the ribbons on her hair, wondering if he knew that she'd run to open the door after seeing him walk away from it a couple of times, but she didn't say anything and that suited him well, because he didn't want to explain why he hadn't dared to knock. But she knew she had to say something, because they couldn't just stay there at her doorstep looking at each other, so she quickly told him that visiting was the least he could do and she felt offended because he'd left her for last, and I have some tea left, are you coming in?
"You don't drink tea, why do you have some here?"
"It's been here for ages, I thought you'd left it."
And that was a lie, they both knew it, because he never left his tea when he came to visit, but he didn't ask, and so Seychelles didn't have to tell him that two weeks ago she'd bought the tea because she'd heard that he'd been visiting everyone, and that was the only way she knew she could make him stay for a few minutes longer than what was strictly necessary. So he came into her house and sat down, and as she looked for a cup and complained about something related to him, England finally allowed himself to relax and admit to himself that the only reason he was there was because he needed some peace after years of fighting.
"You look tired" she said, and he knew that what she was really saying was "I was worried". She handed him a cup and smiled, not too bright, no too happy, but warm enough, welcoming enough.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
They both knew they weren't talking about the tea.
