This is just a really short Halloween one-shot that came to my mind last night. Enjoy. (:

Disclaimer: Bones is not mine.

"Trick or treat!" Brennan smiled, giving each of the children a piece of candy from her bucket. This was the first time in six years that she decided to buy some. Usually she just pretended to not be home, or she would be out with Booth and Parker.

"What's your costume?" She asked a little girl wearing a blonde wig and a sparkly dress.

"I'm Hannah Montana!" The girl told her quite happily.

She was going to ask who that was, but decided that she wouldn't understand anyways. The kids thanked her and went on their way.

Another knock on her door meant more trick or treaters. Grabbing her bucket, she opened the door and was surprised to see her partner standing there with two pumpkins.

"Hey Bones." He smiled, and shifted on his feet.

"Booth, this is a surprise."

"Yeah, well Parker is with his mom and Hannah is working. I thought that maybe we could carve some pumpkins." He smiled like a kid on Christmas Day.

"That actually sounds quite nice." It had been a while since the two of them had some alone time. She felt like she was always sharing him with someone or another.

Laying down newspapers on her kitchen floor, they got to work in a comforting silence. It was broken only when Booth threw some of the pumpkins guts at her.

"Booth!" She laughed, feeling carefree for the first time in a while. She threw some of her own back at him.

"This is my favorite part of Halloween. Carving pumpkins with Parker." Booth said.

"I'm sorry you couldn't do that this year."

"That's okay, this is just as nice."

They talked about their case, Hannah, Angela's pregnancy, and more.

"I'm done." Brennan turned her pumpkin around for Booth to see.

"Wow, Bones." She had done a skull, appropriate.

Turning his around, Brennan smiled.

"It's cute." She told him. It was simple. Two eyes and a smile.

"Gee, thanks." His tone was sarcastic, but he was smiling nonetheless.
