"Mommy!" Brennan heard little footsteps running toward her. She opened her arms and embraced the small child.
"It's okay, it's only a storm." It had been raining non stop for a few hours and it has only gotten worse. The lightening and thunder frightened the little girl.
"Stop?" Adalyn asked, tears coming down her eyes.
"Soon, I promise." She had checked the weather reports, and that is what they all said. Brennan held Adalyn in her arms for a few moments before they were surrounded by darkness.
Her little girl let out a scream. "Shh, it's alright. Mommy's here." She told her, trying to calm her down.
"Ouch, dammit!"
"Booth, language!" Brennan reminded her husband.
"Where are the flashlights?" He asked, rummaging around the kitchen drawers.
"Next to the refridgerator."
Victorious, Booth flicked the flashlight on and waved it around, searching for his family. Finding them in a corner of the living room, he walked over to sit by them on the floor.
"You okay?" He asked Adalyn, as she climbed onto his lap.
"Loud." She told him, referring to the thunder.
"I know, sweetie." He hugged her close, before pointing the flashlight at Brennan.
"You okay?" He asked her, before she batted the light away from her eyes.
"I'm fine. What did you bump into?"
"How should I know?" She laughed, leaning into his side. Adalyn, it seemed, was already fast asleep.
"Out like a light." Booth grinned, leaning his chin down to kiss his Bones softly.
"No turn light out!" Adalyn screamed.
"No, no one's turning the light out." Brennan reassured her daughter, while Booth laughed. The little girl yawned, tightening her grip on her father's neck.
By the time the power came back on, the three of them were fast asleep, cuddled together comfortably.
