And now a Spamano drabble…please, enjoy!
…..
Most people would say that the Vargas twins are like two sides of the same coin. After all, all silver linings will have a cloud – and, to most, Lovino Vargas is that drifting, steel-grey gloom of solitude.
Most people would say that Antonio Fernandez Carriedo is the sun, shining in the sapphire sky. So luminous, so energetic, so joyful.
And no one understands why he has attached himself to the vindictive, abrasive Lovino Vargas, not even Antonio himself.
Antonio may not be an Einstein, but even he can see that Feliciano Vargas would be the easier choice.
He's adorable, ditzy, and pleasant enough company, despite his faults – and so many people are willing to overlook them, to see past his airheadedness and infantile tendencies.
After all, it's easy to excuse someone so childish and sunny
But flip the coin, and Lovino Vargas is so much harder to forgive, so much easier to condemn.
Stubborn and abrasive, Lovi can be so very hurtful to people, and that drives them away. Antonio, however, has been with North Italy for a long time, and he knows what Lovino is really saying.
Really, he's crying inside because he doesn't know how to deal with people, because people have always been ignoring him, putting him down like a broken toy for his endearing younger brother.
Everyone, everyone, since the birth of the twins and Grandpa Rome, has been playing favourites.
It makes Antonio hurt inside; a dull, aching pain that doesn't really make sense. And it pains him even more when he remembers how he was when he first met Lovi, how much like every other person he was; how he wished to swap his Lovino for cute Feli.
Both Lovino and Feliciano fly on the wind; but whilst North Italy soars on the wings of a dove, South Italy flutters along on breaking glass wings.
Antonio can't, won't understand how Lovino feels – but, really, that's okay with him, as long as Lovino stays with him and wakes up next to him everyday.
