Logan sat beside the bed that held his lover, he knew it would not be long before it was all over, he could smell death as it approached all too fast upon the cabin they had made their home. He stared down at the sleeping figure and remembered how they had used to look, how the once brown hair had falling into pale green eyes, how their lips had once held a smile only for him. The person who was so close to leaving him had changed his life, the person had help he through bad times and good times. Memories flashed in front of his eyes. The first time they meet, the first kiss, the reaction of the other x-men, the close calls, the first time they were parted, to the realisation that Logan would out live them. Logan felt the wrinkled hand wipe the tear away from his face, opening his eyes he stared into the once innocent joyful eyes that now held pain and the knowledge of what little time they had left.
'Logan why are you crying?'
'Hmm. I don't want to lose ya' kid.'
I smile played on old lips and a raspy laugh wheezed out, 'I am 89 Logan, hardly a kid.'
Logan look away, it was true but is didn't matter to Logan he would still see the young kid you had been pushed into his life. This was one of the only times he wished he was not a mutant, he had old lived all of his friends and now his lover, although he knew that his life was to end soon as well. The cough and gasping pulled him back to the bed, sliding his arms around his lovers' body he pulled them close and tried to help them. Soon the coughing stopped, and the room grew silent, all that could be heard was a fade wheeze and the wind outside.
'Do you regret anything, my love?'
Logan chuckled, 'no. I could never regret anything that happened, not between us.'
'Tell me about us Logan… I'm having trouble remembering…'
The voice quieten and Logan knew that he was not being asked to tell the story because it was forgotten but to tell it because death was no longer close but stood beside his lover and was reaching out a hand to take them away. Taking a deep breath Logan began, 'The first time we meet, I was still in the x-men and you were nothing but a bad kid looking for trouble…'
