I stood in the elevator, somewhat nervously. I tapped my fingers on my thigh. I had been friends with Steve for a little over a year. I worked at a coffee shop near the Stark Tower, and Steve became a frequent customer. When it was slow he would often make conversation with me. He told me all about himself, the Avengers, and eventually about Bucky. When he invited me to the party I almost turned it down. A crowded party wasn't really my scene. I was more of an introvert, and large gatherings of people gave me anxiety. But seeing as I had never met Steve's friends before I said yes.
The elevator finally dinged and I stepped out. The music was blaring, so I decided to call Steve on his phone.
"Hey Steve, I'm here."
"Sweet", he said. "Be right there".
I hanged up the phone and I observed all the people. I recognized most of the Avengers, they were practically celebrities by now. However there was a lot of people I didn't recognize. I assumed most of them must have been from Shield, since Steve said it was sort of a work party. Bruce was working Tony's mini-bar, Natasha was there talking to him, and Tony was talking to Clint. I practically jumped when I felt a strong hand on my shoulder
"Hey Rose, so glad you could make it." Steve was wearing one of his big ole' grins as he enfolded me in a hug.
I returned his hug and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
"Thanks for inviting me, this party looks great".
I mentally slapped myself This party looks great, oh yeah, real smooth. I could be so awkward at times it was painful.
"I know you're bit of an introvert, and I happen to have a friend here who's.. well not all too excited to be here. I was kind of hoping you could talk to him." Steve looked at me pleadingly.
I groaned and rolled my eyes.
"Fineee, why don't you just shoot me."
Steve grinned as he guided me to the back of the room, weaving through the people. Sitting on a futuristic couch was none other than friking Bucky Barnes.
I pulled Steve aside quickly and glared as hard as I could.
"YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THAT PERSON IS BUCKY", I whispered heatedly. Who knew Steve could be so manipulative?
"I know, I know. I'm sorry." Steve ran his fingers through his hair nervously.
I felt bad for Steve, he had been through a lot with Bucky, and right now he looked kind of pitiful.
"I'll talk to him", I said.
"Thanks Rose". Steve guided me to where Bucky was sitting.
"Rose, I'd like you to meet Bucky. He's a good friend of mine".
I examined him head to toe. I didn't expect him to be this hot. Shit. This was no bueno. He looked very roguishly handsome. He was wearing a dark suit, and a silver watch. Even his shoes looked gorgeous. I suddenly snapped out of it and realized I had been staring for a good minute. I quickly blushed and cleared my voice as I extended my hand.
"Bucky, this is Rose."
Bucky smiled as he shook my hand.
"Charmed". He smirked.
"Want to get a drink? I haven't had one all night", he said.
"Sure, I said. I strode over to the bar and sat down.
"I'll have a Long Island please".
It'll be right up", said Bruce.
"And I'll have a whiskey on the rocks", said Bucky.
Bruce finally brought my Long Island. As I took a sip I knew this was going to be an interesting evening.
